Was Gaga Psychologically Projecting at ArtRave?

If you are a chronic projector you will experience a great deal of anxiety around other people, as well as other unpleasant emotions like anger, disappointment, resentment and prejudice on a daily basis. Engaging in either complimentary and complementary projection can allow people to feel more like others or relate to them easily. Perhaps she realized that her costumes and pretentious mannerisms drifted the demographic she was targeting specifically? However, she has realized that her stature as a celebrity is also a factor in her isolation:

Fame has also come at the price of everyday human interactions. "I miss people," Gaga said. "I miss people. I miss, you know, going anywhere and meeting a random person and saying, 'Hi,' and having a conversation about life. I love people."

Perhaps that's what makes “Perfect Illusion" such a great choice for a lead single? She knows that taking selfies is not why she's on this Earth.

I definitely felt this when I watched the final ArtRave. Part of her speech felt like she was saying goodbye.

Yes, I really think this is true. Gaga is still an insecure person. I'm glad she spend more time with her family now than she did in the early years of her career! I hope she's doing well and she does everything so genuinely as she tells us so  (In the current era).

Hey @PunkTheFunk you've got a fan here!!! I'd love if you could talk about that "girl with babies in the field" Gaga used to talk about early in Joanne era!

REALITY

I actually really loved reading this

In a way, I do agree with what you're saying, especially considering that ARTPOP was a very difficult time in her life, both personally and professionally.

However, for this 'theory' to work, I think we'd have to see what Gaga does in the future. I mean, while it's crystal clear that Joanne is a vastly different era from all the other previous eras Gaga has dawned, for all we know, this could be a blimp and with the next era, we'd get that """Old Gaga""" that everyone was expecting.

I'm not saying it's realistic or likely, but at the same time, I'm not saying that it's not going to happen, because it very well could happen. I do think in a sense Gaga was projecting herself onto her fans in this moment, but at the same time, I think that a lot of what she says makes sense too.

I mean, Gaga herself is an ever-changing individual, and realistically, fans don't necessarily like change, especially when it can be so drastic, like ARTPOP to C2C, or even ARTPOP to Joanne, so in a way, I completely understand what Gaga's saying.

Really love your posts like these, and it makes a lot of sense to me. At the end of the day none of us know Gaga personally, but it certainly fits with what changes she went through after ARTPOP. Normally her changes involve going from one wild style to the next, but Joanne seems like a girl any of us could see walking down the street who likes to sing, but isn't striving to be in your face, and everything she said at ARTRAVE really fits with this huge change. Everything she goes through she is aware that her fans will in a way be going through as well, so a shift in her career and how she presents herself will definitely affect the fanbase, her message at ARTRAVE is like a preparation for what is to come.

Exactly! We have changed through eras with her, I guess. It's kind of our "relationship" thing. To play along with every album's image and sound and find relation from Gaga's output into our personal life!!!!!
