I love how so many Americans preach the "ENGLISH ONLY" doctrine yet when they travel somewhere they EXPECT people to know English.

Well, they shouldn't. It is financially beneficial for tourist destinations to know English so much of them learn, so maybe that's where the expectations come from. But actually, I don't think many Americans EXPECT anyone from other countries to know English. Most people know when you go to a country who's native language isn't English, most people won't speak English.

This reminds of a story where two American girls were at the Christmas market here and they were kinda yelling at an old woman who sold candy for not know english :poot:

I don't see a reason why not to do it, in many countries the gov. websites are translated to English for you and even the signs on the road and other stuff.. so it's a minimum of respect and translate it to many languages.. especially of your allies.. and many people from outside of the US are resident there, so why not to help them understand the difficult politics in their own language?
