And we're talking Spanish, not about Asian languages you brought up. And in my opinion there are not enough people requiring a special Spanish version to make this a big deal.

As I mentioned before, 96% of American residents speak English 'well' or 'very well', so this is just more opportunistic attacks on the Trump administration.

I'm mocking you, buddy.....

So now you're going to talk about Spanish?

Asian languages were brought up because you said that 4% of the population didn't matter because they may not speak English well enough. So Asians must not matter at all either because they make a small part of the population as well. That' based on your beliefs. Like what are you even talking about? Just because there's a minority doesn't mean you negate them. YOU tried steering the conversation with statistics from other countries.

Because I wanted to throw my two cents in this discussion like everyone else

It just confuses me when people say something and then the opposite. I get where you are coming from though. Thanks for chipping in. :D

But you should realize that adding Spanish to the WH website doesn't mean it'll make people not learn better English. The point of this thread, however, is that the administration hasn't added the language yet, which seems a bit odd.

I live in a city where there's a significant Asian population and many places, including courts, etc. have things in Vietnamese, Mandarin, etc.

A place is supposed to be accessible to the people it serves. And yes, many people in the USA speak Spanish and many who may want to visit do as well.

Spanish is the second most spoken language whether xenophobes like it or not.

You'd have to be truly gullible and daft to think that... Dems are leading projection polls while Trump's approvals are still low. That's just a fact. And it's conservatives who care too much about what Dems think. The Trump admin and Republicans have proven to be racist and xenophobic: voter laws in NC, no Pride acknowledgement, Sessions, etc. And you wonder why people are so up in arms? Truthfully this hiccup in the website only backs up what conservatives want. And it's very clear. It's only until when they get angry when we see the truth.

Trump's approval ratings are low because of Trump. :rip: Again, I'm not a Trump supporter. Hillary was leading in all of the polls but Trump still won, btw. Polls don't mean ****. I'm not saying that the Republican party isn't racist/xenophobic, much of them very well are. I'm a registered Democrat, I'm not trying to justify them. All I'm saying is point out racism/xenophobia credibly. Democrats have been reaching for the stars for the past couple years and it's just brought more support to the Republican party.

Well apparently Asians shouldn't be represented because we are only around 5% of the population. No accommodations for us. :wtfga:

Have they? It just seems like racists and xenophobes don't like being called what they are.

Well the administration IS working on their Spanish version, and he did say that this process would take a while:

"[. . .] White House press secretary Sean Spicer said in January that the administration had its "IT folks working overtime" to roll out a new Spanish language site [. . .] Trust me, it's going to take a little bit more time, but we're working piece by piece to get that done," Spicer said

A lot are very entitled. Yes, it has to do with English being so universal, but the entitlement is there.

Yet here in the USA they want to limit other languages.

Well that's wrong. They shouldn't feel entitled.

Learning other languages is not very profitable in the US. We don't depend on other countries for tourism

Well according to many democrats, all white people are inherently racist and if you don't want open borders, you're xenophobic. That's why Democrats have lost credibility, and some Democrats don't even know if they can call themselves liberal anymore because the extremities have shifted so much

You do realize that the polls were accurate, right? They had her ahead, and a little closer with Trump in the margin of error, and she won the popular vote. Polls can't always point out the electoral vote, which Trump won. Margin of error is what people don't always see.

I don't think Dems reach. You said it yourself. The Republicans have actual issues. If the Dems lose support for talking about social issues, then that's just sad.

This thread is talking about something that has existed in previous WH websites and it's only the fault of the "triggered"(don't like that word, but) who end up blaming Dems. Of course there are people who try and find racism. But that's petty to point it out on either side of the aisle.

I understand where you're coming from, but I don't think you understand the point of the website though. People will still understand English. The language will always be the most used, but there's plenty of Americans who don't rely English for everything. Accommodations are still nice. It's not like adding Spanish to a website will cost millions of dollars. Golfing does though.

Oh Spicy...

It doesn't take 7 months to create something as simple as adding Spanish to a website... Especially if previous WH websites already had such options in place before.

Don't even reply. You shouldn't have to accommodate Asians on here.

Oh come on, man... That's such bull and propaganda. There will always be the few idiots in each party that make a stink about stuff. Don't play into that. You're better than that. Sure, there is actual racism in the Republican party though. You admitted to that. But of course not all Republicans are bad. Just like not all Dems are bad.... Why don't you call out Republicans? This is such a non issue.

"Well that's wrong. They shouldn't feel entitled.

Why not? Why does it matter to you? This is why some people go after people who tell others to "speak english". Of all problems, this is what gets to you?

Learning a new language is actually very profitable. For example, it creates jobs. Again, why are other languages such a nuisance?

They aren't in this case. We're going to have 'Star Trek'-style universal translators before long, so it might be a moot point. In fact, I think you can already get various apps for this.

Spanish is the fastest growing language in this country. Resistance to this fact is rooted in anti immigrant, anti hispanic sentiment and Conservatives know that people are ignorant enough to believe "Why can't they just learn English" :gum: Such an ignorant, privileged thing to say :saladga:

Also, remember that Spanish content was purposefully removed by this administration Anyone who can't see through this :smh:

The obvious ****ing answer is to provide translations for several major languages according to population though. We have no national language, but we certainly have translators of all major languages working in government, so there's no excuse.

This is so not what I and many liberal people I know think. This is what conservative propaganda wants you to think Democrats believe.
