blackcoffee 1,264
I've never even thought of this, but now that you mention it, it is TOTALLY inspired by rock and metal! I knew there was a deep reason why I loved it so much. The theatrics, like the fire, is so 80s heavy metal. The outfits (the "mask" make up around eyes especially) are also very glam rock and hair metal like. The rockier versions of the songs of course too, especially JD and BR (although she always rocks her live performances) Even the MR ballad break with the "lighters up" moment is so rock. Thats probably another reason it was so universally beloved. I listen to this show where this guy breaks down classic rock songs and I remember him posting on how much he loved her halftime show and how talented she was. He especially loved the keytar moment (another super 80s rock moment). Gaga is always at her best with that classic rock and metal edge and it's definitely my favorite Gaga...you can tell it's what she's most passionate about (classic rock and metal, along with jazz) and she's always called herself a rockstar.
