ToxicHot 6,444
This thread is making me feel nostalgic. Â I love this woman so much. Sneaky Oliver 21,557
She was so creative and funny during ARTPOP. I think everything that happened that year changed her and made her think "I need to be serious". So we got CTC and Joanne (and there are some "Old Gaga" vibes in that record). But I would not call Old Gaga. We have just experienced one era like this. Maybe she will change again and be mysterious in the next one! We are talking about Lady Gaga, right ?
Reality 73,682
I prefer "this Gaga" tbh. She seems more grounded. á°á©YáŒEá° || đŠđčđ€
Cerny 4,270
It all vanished when she started with the kindness thing and that, being a victim is cool mindset. Why am I hated? why won't you take me seriously? I've suffered from this and this, oh, and also that. I don't want to put music out because people is going to tear it apart. I'm quitting music because no one loves me anymore. I'm human, you know? . It's ridiculous and comes across as fake, considering this was the same woman that used to yell "I DON'T GIVE A ****" Isn't she an artist? Own it and create something fantastic. She allowed people and situations that hurt her to burn out her inner light and she never really recovered. Vulnerability ruined Lady Gaga. I lowkey agree with everything, but I don't want this thread to be another "let's talk **** about her personal life", because I feel like we as fans don't really know what happened to her internally. We can assume that she changed after the things that happened to her in 2012/2013, but the veredict is up to her. In my opinion she won't go back because 1) she changed as an artist along with her personal issues 2) her crew vanished away and the people who helped her succeed will never come back. blackstar 11,488
I think that one of the reasons she lost that something is because of social media. Before ARTPOP era, we barley knew anything what's going on in her privacy. If you look at some of her selfies she posted before ARTPOP era, she is still wearing wigs, costumes etc. How time goes by, she started sharing her intimate moments with us which made us realise that she's just regular girl who loves pasta, her dogs, horse, who love to work in her garden, etc. etc. Before Instagram became a thing, I really thought that she's wearing her high fashion chlotes like 24/7, even when she's hanging out with her family. Dilated, falling free in a modern ecstasy

My Enigma Heart 1,915
I understand what you mean. It's like she's a totally different person now. I do miss the old Gaga but I'm willing to keep an open mind and accept change.

During The Fame Monster/Born This Way she had that mysterious aura around her, she lost it when ARTPOP era started I agree  She literally destroyed her old self w ARTPOP intentionally. For some reason that's what she wanted. The album opens with aura where she's basically saying ok I'm gonna show you who I am underneath all the facade of lady Gaga. And that was a hard time bc I believed "lady Gaga" to be an authentic person then. Imo it almost took away from her credibility.S Sheherselfhas said that tf TFM and btw are a first part of her career that are now gone and over with. ARTPOP ushered in a more human Gaga who is somehow comes off as ... Less artistic bold and daring to me. She comes off as more talented and diverse, an artist of all trades. But no longer a pop music powerhouse with crazy visuals and bold statements.  less of an enigma and less intriguing .  Aura and ARTPOP was such a turning point.  That being said I support her new era. I support the new Gaga and I can imagine the immense pressure it was to always be "on" and acting like lady Gaga when she was also feeling like she was losing her true self in the persona. It's a tricky situation. She could have gone off the rails and entered psychosis . She could've developed severe mental issues. She probably was struggling with identity issues. I like the new Gaga but I will ALWAYS miss that crazy pop star Gaga.
Dirtyicecreamz 1,613
honestly whatever people say, 2009/10/11 Gaga was the best there ever was. She was a ****ing creative work of art. beautiful in every since and she KNEW it. That's why she obviously named her next ablum 'art pop'. Unfortunately, by doing so, it ironically made her look less artistic and creative. Stop the music, Start the drama. My post probably sounds a lot more harsh than I intended. I think it's valid and on topic though, and I actually think we as fans, know way too much about her life. Back then we didn't, being a fan of the unknown is more exciting.
AlexanderMagno 10,746
I feel the same, probably worst than you. I'm not sure nowadays if I should consider myself a Gaga fan. I really like her, but mostly for what she was and what she has done, not recent events. Â Like you said, she was unstoppable. Florence Welch described her as "a force of nature in the pop sense" and that was what she truly was. A mega star who gave pop music a breath of life and wouldn't stop for nothing to conquer the world. Â In my opinion, and sadly, I think the "mask" fell off. It became extremely obvious that the "old Lady Gaga" was, in a greater part than we knew back then, the result of a team behind her. Things started changing when she started dismissing her team. And after Troy, the "last survivor", change was definitive. Around ARTPOP, like you mentioned. Â One thing is to grow and experiment and try to evolve. But other thing is to almost completely change your state of mind. Everything about Lady Gaga seemed so fierce, so honest. Nowadays, when I listen to her, I don't feel the empathy I used to feel. During the ARTPOP era, she started saying so many different, contradictory statements. I clearly remember how one day she decided all of her singles, the other day she decided none, one day she missed how she was in control during TFM era, the other day she was claiming she had very little control back then. It was the first time I realised, after all, she was a pop star like so many others. Then AHS came, TIHTY, and you started hearing her talk about Lady Gaga as a character she created. And all of a sudden, that whole "I'm theatre, I'm real, this is who I am, Lady Gaga and Stefani are the same", disappeared. And I realised I fell in love with a character than no longer exists. To end my post: Joanne. Never, in my wildest dreams, would I imagine that Gaga would one day released an album and treat it like she treated Joanne. In only four months after its release, she stops talking about it, changes her Twitter bio, does almost nothing, like she is already done with the era. In the middle of it, starts shooting a movie, and only after it she apparently remembers herself she has released an album. It is weird. The "old Gaga" would never pay dust to Joanne the way she did. Yes, she has done a few things, but who has witnessed TFM and BTW knows how I'm talking about (ARTPOP also had a "pause" right in the middle, but she had the management problem so I'll give her that). And releasing The Cure, aka a generic trendy song in the middle of Joanne era, is definitely something I wish I could forget. Â I know over the last few months I haven't been the most supportive towards Gaga, but only because I used to love her so much and miss her... I wish we had a glimpse of her attitude again. And, in my opinion, I don't think it was about experimenting, changing, growing up, like all the fans will of course claim. I think she really let a side of her show that is too different from the great Lady Gaga. Yes, of course, we don't know all about her and what has happened in her life... But again, wasn't she supposed to be the closest to her fanbase? Doesn't she claim how honest she is with her fans? And we have, indeed, been very close to her. Either way, she shows what she wants to show, and it's no coincidence that so many fans feels the same.
