Ok but if you look at this graph you will see in which countries gay marriage is legal.

If you look you will see that pretty much every country where it is legal is a predominantly christian country. So that cant be it.

Dark Blue - Marriage open to same-sex couples

Greenish - Recognized when performed in certain other jurisdictions

Bright Blue - Civil unions/domestic partnerships

Sky Blue - Unregistered cohabitation

this means nothing. Spain has legal marriage and during pride nazis are allowed to protest and let go free of charges after assaulting gay couples.

marriage equality is not the epitome of lgbt rights

Guess what? Even those persecuted gays not more than 4 decades ago.

Also, majority of them aren't even very religious at all. They are just Christians by name.

Read the post above yours. It's actually well known that homophobia in Uganda increased significantly due to American missionaries. There's a vice documentary you can watch on YouTube too

yeah i've seen that vice episode. great showing of the power of the white man i mean they're like witches casting spells on people with their jesus voodoo. poor gullible ugandans always letting america show them the way.

a nice short telling of how this happened.

the ending is pretty important

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

It actually means a lot.. Don't you think that countries where gay marriage is supported enough to be passed would be the ones who are the most tolerant of it? If the other countries supported it they too would pass their own laws.

I would say that this graph is very misleading because it only shows a few gradients of colors and the margins between them are very large. If you look at the actual percentage number of Atheists it still isnt even close to a majority in any of these countries. In europe for example there are only 3 countries where the number of Atheists is grater than 1/3 of the total population. So most of these countries are still very religious. if you look at the the statistics for the EU it shows that only 20% of people are not religous or spiritual at all.

Just because you're religious doesn't mean you'll be hardcore.

The Southern part of Africa is less homophobic because they aren't radicalized by pastors. Look at Bolivia and Paraguay where same sex marriage is constitutionally banned.

SA isn't on the same level as Europe for LGBT acceptance

Sure but I would argue that it is more of a cultural issue than one of Christianity. Pretty much everywhere in the world that isnt christian has not legalized gay marriage. I'm not going to argue that sadly, most religions are against gay marriage, but I fail to see how this is a problem caused by just christianity nor how its "America's fault". Most countries that have legalized gay marriage or are pro LGBT rights are ones with christian majorities

Right so its not the fact that the vast majority of Ugandans are extremely homophobic...? Everything has to be America's fault and no country can every take the blame for anything that they do? :madge:

Since when did America take blame for anything :ladyhaha:

Not necessarily.

Nepal's SC approved of same sex marriage back in 2008. Mauritius will declare their result in 2020. (Both are Hindu majorities js)

Thai and Cambodian kings says they want to legalize same sex marriage. Vietnam looks good too. (Buddhist majorities). Gays aren't persecuted in Buddhist majority countries afaik

Myanmar just came out of communist dictatorship awhile ago. Rest even if they have laws don't enforce them.

Also, traditional African religions were accepting of homosexuality. The Christian pastors changed their entire cultures.

Now, there are people who hate their own histories
