This video clip is swirling around ... showing a CNN supervising producer saying the network's coverage of the Russia/Trump investigation is "mostly bulls***" but it's being covered to death for ratings. John Bonifield, CNN's supervising producer of the network's health unit, is caught on undercover video saying the network is getting great ratings from trying to tie the Trump Administration to the Russian interference in the election. Bonifield says CNN doesn't have the goods, but it's nonstop coverage is all about attracting viewers.

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

I don't see how what he said is bad though? :oprah: He said they don't have any 'big giant proof' or a big piece of evidence that would make it 100% clear that Trump and Russia are connected. They're still digging and looking at sources, and considering that the whole Russia connections within his team are still currently being investigated, new information is coming out all the time, and they're reporting on that. None of that information is the big take-down piece of evidence that everybody is hoping to find (and probably won't find) but it's not like they're inaccurately reporting, as Russia investigations are currently going on right now. When they say bull****, he doesn't mean fake or made up, but it's more so filler and not as important as they make it out to be.

Like, you can turn into CNN and they'll almost always have BREAKING NEWS under a headline that really isn't that controversial or important. I don't deny that they could be using time to look at other things while the investigation is still ongoing, but it's not like it's false information.

Really? He said the reason that they talk about Russia so much is because it rating and that it's mostly bullshit right now. He admitted to having no proof and he agreed that its a witch hunt. You dont see how that's bad?

Would you agree that the whole Obama birth certificate thing was bad because its pretty much the same thing.

Bleh. It's hard to judge. I feel like this could have been manipulated a certain way to make his comments sound worse than they actually were.

O'keefe / Project Veritas has blown a couple other stories like this out of proportion, so I'm reluctant to believe this.

Phil DeFranco explains it well.

All MSM is essentially biased. As long as you're informed about what it is you're watching it's fine.

Yeah... I'm pretty liberal and strongly dislike Trump tho so I'm fine with CNN. I kinda desperately want there to be Russian collusion, but I'm completely well aware that there may not be. As long as your aware of everything it's okay.

Is anyone really surprised :toofunny:

A for-profit company wants to attract viewers? Who would have thought?

The creator is known for his blatant  video editing in an effort to gain notoriety. The guy has numerous libel lawsuit against him, and this is another sad push to damper the Russian scandal. Anyone who believes this video is real truly want to strengthen their own bias. These are the same people that will take any video against Trump as fake, and they will take ANY video helping Trump as true.

I think its important for everyone to realize that both sides have their biases. But at the same time I don't see how a lot of what he said in this video could be taken out of context. Some of it might be but there are also a lot of things that he says that are just bad on their own. I would like him to release the full unedited videos though because I'm curious to see the full conversation.

None of this info is new.

Nor does it clear trumps name in any way. No one expects CNN to prove that trump colluded with russia, that is the FBI's job.

I think the worst thing about the whole situation is that they have been kind of planting the seeds of hope not only for us but also for many independent voters (CNN is one of the biggest news media brands) that Trump's Administration has somehow connected conspired with Russia to win the election and lift the sanctions.

If their coverage is indeed bull**it and if the FBI investigation remains a Capitol Hill party and fails to present the factual evidence (not consensus or expert opinion or any other thing we can't verify) of both, Russian interference and Russian conspiracy with Trump's transition team, then it may cast a long shadow over the trustworthiness of the media generally. And we shall then learn the bitter lesson that even though Trump is someone who stands far from the values which we believe to be worthy of the politician, we must never let hatred capture our minds - unless we love to be manipulated by the media who hate Trump.

As for Russia, it's kind of hard for me to understand some positions of the American senators, congressmen and congresswomen and the Administration. Like, both, the USA and the EU have giant trade volumes worth billions and billions of dollars with China, a country which lawfully prohibits any political competition and declares the supremacy of the Communist party  which can't be legally changed. And we know about China's policy towards Tibet and South East Sea.

And what about Saudi Arabia and some other Muslim countries? The USA and some European countries make billions of dollars out of  selling weapons and jets and other military stuff to Saudi Arabia, a country which by all standards of democracy is far from the ideals of civil rights which USA/EU hold dear (I'm talking about the position of LGBTQ community, women and political opposition there). Not to mention the fact that they have no voting and allow a dynasty to rule the country. Not to mention their involvement into the civil war in Yemen and Syria.

Why does Russia stand out on that profound list of beautiful countries and is portrayed like the pits of hell is sometimes a mystery to me. Seems like there may be something else going on, something more than just politics.

O'Keefe is a right-wing propagandist. No one should give attention to his conspiracies because that devalues actual journalism. Yes, news outlets have their own biases, and people who align politically with one outlet will only listen to that particular new organization. But under no circumstances should anyone use propaganda or conspiracy as means to justify anything. The video itself is edited, and should not be taken seriously. Like. At all. O'Keefe is using his blind loyal base to distract from actual events. He has no integrity. Don't hold your breathe waiting for him to release an unedited version of anything. Instead, call your representatives and ask them not to slash medicaid.

Just because the video is edited doesnt mean that its not true though. Like im sure he only edited in the parts that make CNN look the worst and took out the rest of it. But what is there doesnt seem like it is edited that much. This is still video proof of that CNN producer saying all of this and you cant just discount it because Veritas is the one who posted it. Like i said, I'm sure it has been edited to be biased against CNN but this guy still said those things.
