"Why couldn't she apply for citizenship?"

What a joke. You people think everything is so easy. Next time Google something before making gross comments. Jesus.

Instead of being rude, you could inform me? I said I was confused and clearly stated I meant the mother not the child, but alright..

They're humans.. but the law is the law?

Just because we're humans doesn't mean that laws don't exist? There are sets of rules which are things allowed and things not allowed. She broke the law by crossing illegally, and that wouldn't have happened if she applied for the papers to become an actual US citizen..? I am very liberal but I just don't understand why we should feel bad for people like this

Why is the law the law? Nobody said it had to be so.. If it's breaking up families and causing pain and heartbreak like this then obviously it's flawed and not the answer.

The 'people like this' are the same as you and me. We all depend on the same parameters for survival. If there were no borders what need would we have for immigration, war, etc.

Could you inform yourself before making insensitive comments?

Funny how you felt it was ok to not feel bad for these people even if you were not informed but now you need information to be confronted with people who are upset over your comments.

I didn't think about that part. You're right. Thank you for being kind about it.

EDIT: I am talking about the mother :air: Not the child. As I stated already no family should be separated... jesus

She can't apply for a citizenship yet since, technically, she has no right to be in the US. She needs a Visa and then apply for a residency

I’m getting on your nerves

That's what I meant. There's a Mexican family that lives in my neighborhood, and they came here legally and we're good friends with their families- so I was just confused why others cannot do the same

Why are we supposed to feel bad for them if they illegally crossed into the country??

It's very sad to see this as no child should be separated from their parents, but then again, she immigrated illegally?

Wouldn't you feel sad to see someone having to steal bread from bakery ?

I would. That's the same reason because we are humans, and nothing is black or white.

If we're willing to tear apart a mother from her child for the sake of following a law, what does that say about us as people?

The dehumanizing that occurred in this thread happens all across the US every single day.

1. Never once dehumanized anyone

2. Said in the first post no family should be separated

I feel bad for you if this aggression/rudeness is your solution to informing people. Have a nice night.

Yes you did even if you don't realize it.

I'm not trying to inform you.

You don't know the full story. For all we know, that mother was crossing the border from a violent and dangerous city and she wanted her and her child to just have a better life.

Terrible but the kid would have been holding onto his mother happily and not having to let go if they hadn't broken the law. I'm sure if a murderer's wife cries and holds him as he's taken away then it makes breaking that law okay.

Did you seriously just equate the two?

For all we know the mother was running away from a dangerous and violent city and she wanted her and her child to have a better life here in America. Just because it's "the law" doesn't mean it's right.

I mean, would segregation in schools be okay, just because it was once 'the law'?
