Could the DWUW video really be THAT bad?

I understand the subject matter was pretty hardcore but does anyone actually know the whole video though?  Yeah she was working with two perverts but do you think it was so bad where her camp totally pulled it?  If it was a total shock fest, it would have helped the song do really well on the charts.  Part of the reason why Wrecking Ball went number 1 was because of the video.  It was pretty shocking and weird people needed to see how much of a mess it was.  I doubt the video was so disturbing or dark that it could have ruined her career.  Judging from the TMZ clips, it wasn't THAT bad.  The video looks really well shot and the imagery with Gaga touching herself with the paper headlines fitted the song nicely.  Just the idea of working with R. Kelly and Richardson is what seem to put some people off.

Hasn't it already been confirmed that the scrapped DWUW video was the inspiration for the world-renowned, unapologetically cinematic, downright exciting Million Reasons video? :oprah:

Gaga was already getting so much bad press at the time it would have been pretty bad for her career and the imploding ARTPOP era.

Well in the snippets that we have, we see her drugged out naked in a bed while R. Kelly and dancers take the song literally and do what they want to her body. I think it's best that the video stay unreleased. We don't need anyone blasting Gaga for glorifying rape in a music video featuring two perverts.

I think it was the R. Kelly plus Terry Richardson plus rapey dialogue plus weird sex stuff plus the song title plus the media's portrayal of Gaga at the time plus Gaga's bad relationship with her management plus a million other stuff rather than one specific thing about the video, which seemed about as sexual as Anaconda (for better or for worse). That's why it never saw the light of day: it was a lot going on for Gaga, and it would have broken her if it was fed to the wolves and become a stain on her career.

Been a long time but I'm back in town, and this time I'm not leaving without you

Could also been her next 1# ans people would forget about the video in a few months time.

She should just do it regardless since the message are way important.

Erykah Badu, Alanis Morisette, Bjork, Madonna, among others did it all and pushed boundaries.

She shouldn't be afraid if she was really in it for the art.

I don't think the video itself was the reason they pulled it. Yeah it would have been explicit/shocking, but look at Gagas previous music videos. I think the fact that it was with people like Richardson and R Kelly involved in the video, because they have been accused of lewd activities (and if I remember correctly, people speaking out about Richardson was happening right as the video was about to be released?)

Yeah, I think it had much more to do with the people involved as opposed to the content of the actual  video. Its really a shame though because I bet the video is fantastic.

I'm so glad she didn't. I can't believe she even worked with Terry and R Kelly so much given she was raped herself (we didn't know this at the time).

Also, the clip of the video where she is being banged from behind with her breasts barely covered was extremely creepy.

No, the only reason they never released it was because Troy left in the middle of the era and he got credits to decide whether to release it or not. Gaga obviously regrets making that video, but she still loves the song and that's why she added Xtina on it.

Has she even talked about the video since then?

The video seems to be like Voldemort to her.  As soon as it died, she won't even mention anything about it.
