This is false. Joanne is a platinum album with a platinum single that secured a SuperBowl Halftime Show. How isn't that successful?

And Joanne. It's cohesive with a distinctive sound and soul. ARTPOP was a mess in every way.

JOANNE IS PLATINUM IN THE U.S.????

Joanne is more cohesive, consistent throughout, and it's the type of music I prefer. ARTPOP is still enjoyable but the whole middle section 8-12 is a mess

ARTPOP the song is #8...... You think that genius song is a mess???:oprah:

"A perfect storm, perfect storm... OOOOONCE YOU'RE MINE! There's no going back." - Katy Perry aka Goddess, Dark Horse.

But ARTPOP is just better on the overall.

I never liked ARTPOP from the first time I listened to it. I always thought it was unbearable to listen to. Quite frankly, I was very nervous and concerned about Joanne because I hated the title when I first heard it, but Joanne actually had about 6 or 7 songs that I liked instantly from the first time I heard them.

Joanne honestly. ARTPOP seems too fake. Like it wasn't what it was supposed to be. With Joanne, it seems genuine, she's not trying to cover anything up and you can read it in her lyrics and you can hear it in her voice and the instruments.

I'm going to choose ARTPOP because that's what I've been listening to the most and I appreciate it more every time I listen to it. Especially Aura, Venus, Do What U Want, Dope and Applause are exactly kind of memorable and iconic songs I want to see Gaga making. Joanne is mostly enjoyable work of art, but I don't quite see the same passion and energy in it than in ARTPOP.

Album wise it's Joanne. It's much more cohesive and well put together than the mess ARTPOP was.

Era wise it's ARTPOP. The videos, performances, fashion, promotion don't even compare to Joanne

The albums are sooooo different.....

I concur with some previous comments and would say Joanne is the better record. It will undoubtedly age better than ARTPOP.

With that said, I think ARTPOP is interesting in its ability to showcase a frustrated artist trying desperately to experiment and find herself. This is why (in my opinion) the quality of the album differs so greatly from track to track. Therefore, while Joanne is consistent in its quality throughout (for the most part), ARTPOP has higher "highs" and lower "lows". For example, while I love Joanne as a whole, nothing struck a chord with me in the album like Dope or Gypsy did. However, nothing on Joanne made me immediately skip over it like J&D did.

Both. For different moods. But ARTPOP is more true to the gaga I love so I guess ARTPOP tbh. Joanne as an era has been very boring . Sure we got Coachella and super bowl but the best parts about those were all the throwback performances n nostalgia. Shout-out to perfect illusion, Milli reasons, Joanne and angel down though. ARTPOP is a journey and imo the most cohesive Gaga album.
