I've been telling some of y'all that Nicki didn't write her verse for Swish Swish. But now that album credits have fully come out, I see she did. That's what I get for trusting wikipedia.

I'm sorry Nicki for doubting you lol

Battle 4 Ur Life

Dude, hands down this is her BEST album after TD.

VERY experimental, production on point. a couple fillers here and there, granted. but they work as a whole. and the biggest thing is that it's a lot more mature album for Katy.

I am digging it.

Witness is such a great song and a perfect opener. Deja Vu is one of her best bops and so are the singles. they sound ****ing extraordinary in this album, (Swish Swish was a grower, I admit) and CTTR is an absolute anthem as we all know.

Power, Mind Maze and Bigger than Me all slays!

honestly this is ha ray of light imo. shows A LOT of growth lyrically and sonically.

Grade: 8.7 (A-)

CONGRATS KATY!!

Married the Night

This album is a steaming pile of crap. The most I've ever cringed listening to the album. Dejavu is catchy but the lyrics RUIN it. I like miss you more. That's it.

I am so disappointed with this album. There are NO banger choruses, the most boring album she's ever made :madge:

Witness: Boring
Hey Hey Hey: Okayish song until the chorus kicks in
Roulette: Actually pretty good song but the chorus needs more BANG
Deja Vu: Awful vocals on the chorus, bland, monotone
Power: Who produced this? That vocal effect is horrible and the instrumental sounds like a 10 year old made it
Mind Maze: No words...
Miss You More: Katy trying to have ha Million Reasons moment, not gonna happen. Why didn't they write more lyrics for the chorus? Very repetive.
Tsunami: I fell asleep
Bigger Than Me: Again, bland production
Save As Draft: If you're going to make a silent moment before the chorus, the chorus better be LIT and this wasn't
Pendulum: Katy's Just Another Day (not a compliment)
Into Me You See: Again, chorus repeats the same lyrics all over again

I will be surprised if this album gets 50+ metacritic :neyde:

Stopped reading at witness :awkney:

ok now the album has climbed up for me a bit

it's at 7/10 now

'deja vu' and 'tsunami' really grew on me

'swish swish', 'witness' and 'hey hey hey' are still my top 3 though

Listening for the second time right now, some songs are definitely growers. Hey Hey Hey already sounds better now. Actually a cute bop! :music:

Roulette really sounds like a-ha - Take On Me/Pitbull - Feel This Moment (feat. Xtina). I guess it felt underwhelming yesterday because there was a lot of hype for this song, but at the second listen I get why people like it so much. :whitney:

Everything about this is what I find negative about most corporate artists: the productions / lyrics / vocals are so mild. Like the bass work in Witness is decent, but it's fades after the first 3 seconds. The lyrics are katy-grade, so I've got nothing against or to stan for them, and the vocal mixing is decent.

the idea of a filler track i find very similar to ariana, where the singles are relatively good, but the rest are a re-hash of the singles.

the chord progressions are way too common, and girl, if you are repeating the same lyrics, get yo self some new song writers.

for donut, it's a mild 5/10. an improvement, but not much of one.

Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay. You just had 10 donuts today. Without frosting.

Deja Vu is still slaying me at the second listen.

Power isn't growing on me yet. I normally like experimental song, but I don't think I will ever really like this song tbh. :duck:
