Mess, I imagine most gay people aren't out, that is soo sad, can gay people hold hands or show signs of affection outside or will they be persecuted or arrested?

I mean, majority of South East Asian countries are so religious and not ready to move forward yet. Either it's propaganda from the Church or the Mosques. They make sure to point out their disagreement.

The only country I can vouch out perhaps just Thailand tbh. Like, they have their own issues too but LGBTQ there seems not having much hardships as their brothers and sisters in neighboring countries.

For some countries, religion plays a big role. But for other more developed asian countries, many of it stems from generations of the traditional family unit ideals that somehow becomes ingrained within culture. I would argue it's more about reputation, and social class etc. It's something that would take more generations to break out of, but I feel we might be getting closer to acceptance.

Let's hope so. Actually my ex thinks SG could make it happen but hold off cos they don't wanna cause a rift with Malaysia. What do you think about that?

I think that might be true. It's all speculation really but it makes sense given our geographical disadvantage between two big Muslim countries.
