JR Gg 12,985
I've watched halftime shows of the previous years, Prince, MJ, Bey, KP, Madonna Bruno, Coldplay etc. and I've got to say Gags' the best. Prince and MJ is great performance-wise, but maybe because technology wasn't that advanced yet, the entertainment factor wasn't fully expressed. Madonna's was over the top, poor vocals good dancing but it seemed messy overall. Bey's as always awesome vocals and dancing, but bear in mind she wasn't really singing that much. When she was dancing, she didn't really sing. The stage design was brilliant, instead of one beyonce you get three and More( you know what I mean if you watch it). The pace is kinda bad I must say. The opening is epic but the end is bland. I loved the lighting tho. Nice show overall but a bit boring. Bruno's was simple and nice. Great dancing and vocals, no wow factor tho. KP relied heavily on the projections. Okay vocals and awkward dancing? Entertainment Yes. Performance No Coldplay's is a capital M-E-S-S. The hell they invited Bey and Bruno? The whole show's pace was bad and boring, except for maybe the dance-off. The stage looked awful. The message was nice. Gags? Need I say, almost perfect. Epic opening epic ending. The pace was so great that it left the audiences wanting more and more. Some said it was boring but fk the haters. How can it be boring with drones, jumping off roof, acrobatics and more? The lighting was a bit messy but the LED torches (?) were a great addition. Wished it was showed more on TV because it was amazing, especially during BR. She sang live with tiring choreo and it was just great. Her messages were conveyed in a subtle way but successfully tho. Love the stage but could be more innovative. All in all, Gags has the best show, on TV and live in the stadium. I don't care what you guys say, it was truly the best. It could've been better but currently, no one can top it. And gurl it is not a SAFE performance. I loved that it was not political, even tho scalping Trump live can let her be on the headlines for months. It is no. 1 and not even MJ's, Prince's, Bey's are better. Haters can kiss my fat ass. I'm 3 months late I KNOW. Relive the BEST HALFTIME HERE. And then stream The Cure FATS. Jonathanholland 5,321
It was amazing. She exeeded all my expectations. Her vocals were on point and she was so passionated. I only wish she scrapped Telephone and performed Applause instead. That would've made the performance a better reflection of her career. This performance was more early Gaga + Million Reasons. Besides that I Loved it! Must have watched it at least 50 times Before there was love, there was silence
Jenina 15,077
I can't really decide if Gaga's or Madonna's is my favorite to be honest. I stan both of them and I have the whole performance memorized for both. The Madonna entrance was absolutely sickening and little me was so in awe watching the performance live. Gaga slayed as well with her vocals and ditd had me shook but it was a different kind of shook I guess idk. My favorite frequently alternates both were so amazing but currently my favorite is Madonna's it will probably switch to gaga in a few weeks or so. cool

But out of PF/JD/Telephone/BTW I would've switched Telephone. Just because all the other songs slayed even more. The only critisicm I read was about her playing 90% 'old' hits. Applause could've solved that. Anyway, Telephone slayed and I'm sure nobody complains about this anymore in a few years. hpmcmill 1,994
I loved it. I wasn't really feeling Joanne too much, but the SuperBowl wowed me so much I completely forgot about Joanne and just reminded myself how thankful I am to Stan for such a talented, diverse and loving artist. Then was Coachella which slayed and The Cure, which also slayed. Excited for A Star is Born, but first the tour! I've watched the halftime performance many times and love it so much. Bebe 17,093
I feel like Gaga's intro on the roof and pause from 1:23-1:30 was inspired by MJ which was really cool. I would rate Gaga among the best with Prince and Beyonce included in my top 3. I think for me what was exciting about all those performances is that it was the talents of the performer that carried the set. In terms of Gaga she managed to show off her vocals, showed off her queer-theatrical style, showed off her choreography and showed off her ability at the piano while still including flashy moments from the intel drones, her flying around on stage and with fire bursting from the floor. Really though, it was her talent and ability as a performer that was the centerpiece of the entire show. No shade to Katy, her halftime show was very polished and immaculately planned out, but I found with her show it was her walking around hitting marks while the set production around her evolved. The projections stole the show. Really watching the show from the point of view of Katy as a performer it's her walking and singing around the stage just hitting marks. She wasn't exciting as a performer imo. When she actually had to dance or react on stage it felt painfully unnatural, and rehersed - it lacked a feeling of spontaneity. The point of that wasn't to attack Katy, it was just to highlight what I find great about performances from Gaga, Prince and Beyonce over other Halftime shows. In fairness to Katy, I think one strength of her performance was that it featured less 'pauses' in the action than in a show like Gaga's (2:43-3:02 smoke, dancers and the guy at the piano are focused on while Gaga's harness is removed, 7:08-7:22 her guitarists, dancers and light show distract while Gaga gets to the piano and changes her makeup slightly). With Katy's show if she couldn't change and make a certain mark in time there was Lenny Kravitz or Missy Elliot on stage ready to keep the show going. Production wise it was stellar and I think it was immaculately planned out for a T.V audience. There was just no time for an audience to get bored or for the energy of the performance to dip. I just think, for me personally, it's more exciting seeing an incredible performer... perform. While I can be dazzled by impressive set production, I'd rather that it serve as a background to the performer not as the centerpiece.
