Did Lorde Over Expose Herself?

i've been waiting for "Melodrama", been watching a lot of her interviews, and even read that she hates Royals,

So i started to think: is the "underperformance" of this era caused by Royals? or is it because of the GP and their bad taste :lolly:

She even mentioned that she released Green Light so people could hear something new and fresh, something not so dark, but radio didn't like it.

Or, did Royals overexposed her? making her now seem like a one hit wonder, when truly she's not. I once read a comment by a member here that said "That happens when the start of your career is overrated"

What do you think, personally i think that her peak was too fast, and probably might no be able to re-peak

overexpose?

I always saw her as an alternative/almost indie artist

I don't think so.. her music isn't radio friendly and she was never a popstar to begin with, Royals is pretty much her only radio friendly song, maybe Team too. Green Light actually did pretty well for the kind of song it is.

Green Light has been streamed more times than Perfect Illusion and Million Reasons with a much smaller fanbase, she's doing well for the type of artist she is.

She's not overexposed whatsoever, I think most people have forgotten her

Pop girls just ain't succeeding too much this year and she doesn't have enough fan power or mystery to be very relevant

She doesn't really care about all that though, she loves making music and she has cultivated a significant fan base from her first album. And she's like Gaga that she reinvents herself every era, so that might be the reason why her new stuff isn't really as popular because it's not what's expected from her.

I think Lorde is more the type of alternative/indie artist that makes music because it's her passion and suddenly one of her songs became popular and exploded on the radio and got her a Grammy win. Royals was one of those lucky songs that once in a while gets noticed and doesn't have this annoying beat or structure that was made with the intention of catching people's attention on the radio, it just happened.

Green Light has had moderate success but it does feel like Melodrama is going to be a great album. Probably not #1 songs but good quality music. I'm more excited to see her live.

Her problem is that she isn't selling out and she isn't making the type of music radio wants to play, I think her album will sell good and get critically acclaimed and pick up some awards though.

I think it's more that people knew the "royals song" and not "lorde" it's not like adele where everyone knew "it's adele, it's adele" People weren't really waiting for new music by her. It's like carly rae jepsen (sadly) People knew the "call me maybe song" but not Carly per se

How can she be overexposed after the 3 year blackout? :awkney:

If think she'll enjoy being an alternative artist that can enjoy mainstream attention her peers would never receive.

If she's underperforming it's because she's not releasing tropical angst club house beats.

She's just serving regular angst with amazing lyrics :poot:

under-performed ? in what ways? she has released one song so far and its still doing great, still in top 40 in UK with hardly any promo.

I love Lorde. I think she's really interesting. However, I don't think she's THAT talented. Most of the GP just liked Royals and then quickly got over it due to the song being overplayed. Plus it's hard to stick out of the crowd these days in the music industry. There are many people who can do what Lorde does. There's always an exception to that statement, but eh. However, one of the new songs her performed at Coachella sounded AMAZING, so I'm hoping to be proven wrong with the album.

No, she just comes across as this mysterious young girl, but the music also isn't that great

lol not at all. the only reason green light is """"flopping"""" is because matching royals' success is impossible considering royals was pop and green light is far away from that sound.

The 'overexposure' thing is so lame lol

Hits are meant to overexpose someone :rip:

Melodrama flopping is a completely different thing.
