Passion belongs to the Progressive House category. Or when it was released on William Orbits Guerilla Records Dub House Disco, which sounds equally nebulous. It became popular in the wake of the Acid House revolution and the harder Rave Techno and could be deacribed as a more grown up, serious version with an emphasis on percussion and mixes that drag on forever. Or you could just call it boring. Passion is a classic though and shifts throughout to - hopefully - keep the interest up. And the bassline is just scrumptious! I've seen Zedds music called Progressive House, so apparently it's still a thing.
