I remember being so happy in 2010-2015 when lots of countries (and US states) legalized Gay Mariage. And it stopped... for a while, but Taiwan just gave me hope. Australia and Germany next?

Wait Germany doesn't have gay marriage? I know Merkel doesn't want it to be "gay marriage" but wow. I'm surprised. Especially at Australia too. & People give America flack hm 🙄

So am I. Tbh if I was german I would be mad, especially since Germany is one of the most accepting countries in the world when it comes to LGBT (one of the first countries to make civil unions a thing) and Australia tried it but it was unconstitutional or sth.

From what I've read/heard Japan isn't really homophobic (no attacks or that kind of stuff) but they isolate everyone that's "weird" so being LBGT is basically social suicide. (Read this in a personal blog so I don't know how true it is)

I would be too! Its just shocking because German politics seem beyond liberal compared to american standards 😂

Yeah, I heard it's not tolerable to show public affection, like holding hands and kissing. So straight couples suffer too.

Yeah, I'm not really an expert on this, maybe someone from Japan could share some info, but I heard that the Japanese don't take adult homosexuality seriously, and they tolerate it really well in teenage years, even in schools, but then after that people are expected to "grow out of" it somehow.
