What he did is sick, killing innocent people who came to a concert to have the time of their lives. Sadly, bigoted people will use his action to condemn an entire community and spread fear to further their political views. I would say there is certainly a strong degree of 'brainwashing' (or at least manipulation) but saying its 100% brainwashing almost excuses their actions IMO.
