Xoxo Adriana 15,040
I'm pretty sure y'all have heard Nicki Minaj's 2014 PinkPrint track 'Truffle Butter' by now So I listened to Swish Swish by Katy Perry (which by the way I love, and is probably my favorite single from her off 'Witness') but I couldn't help but notice some similarities between SS and TB by Nicki. The instrumental sounds very similar, if not the exact same. I am not talking about the lyrics, since obviously Nicki raps and Katy sings (as far as I know). If you haven't heard Truffle Butter, listen to the instrumental of the track then listen to the instrumental of Swish Swish...focusing on the chorus: Obviously its ironic that these two tracks sound familiar as Nicki features on it, so I am not making this thread in any negative way. What are your opinions on this similarity little detectives? (This isn't shade by the way...even though i'm not much of a Katy fan)
DelusionalGaga 29,549
I'm not sure. Maybe Katy sampled. Truffle Butter is far superior though
heygirl 842
yes yes yes yes! I knew i'd heard that instrumental before but couldn't pinpoint from where exactly. she must've borrowed the instrumentals or something cause that can impossibly have just been a coincidence. she prob has nicki's consent for it tho be kind guys

Snow 1,582
Erm what they actually have in common is the four note descending bass scale (not chords). Thats about it. Sure its part of the hook for both but yeah, doesnt make them all that similar othervice.
The Child 18,997
I've been saying this ever since she released the song. ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

Haroon 49,685
I haven't listened to just the instrumentals alone but it's a type of music anyway, like some Disclosure songs and loads of house songs are like that so I wouldn't say it's copying Truffle Butter I love both songs though
