" Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance Is Officially The Most Viewed Video On YouTube Ever

The reign of ‘Charlie Bit My Finger came to a close today as Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” surpassed it and became the most viewed YouTube video of all time. ‘Charlie Bit My Finger’ has held the number one spot for views since August 2009, when it outshone “Evolution of Dance“. Lady Gaga’s video, which was first posted last November, currently has close to 179 million views.

What makes this feat truly amazing is that Lady Gaga succeeded in moving up to the number one spot in only a few months. It took over two years for Charlie Bit My Finger to earn the title.

[...]

This video has taken off at such a fast rate one can only ask, how long will it be before her other music videos follow suit and make their way to YouTube’s number one spot? "

This is so sad, i dont understand though, how does Alejandro/Poker face/Telephone and Born this way not have more views? They should be by 500M+ now since they were HUGE hits with popoular videos. Judas and Applause should also have way more then they have. I understand the views of lets say You and i(Local hit), TEOG(Bad video+ late), G.U.Y(massive flop) and her joanne videos since they are pretty bland and only MR was kind of a hit. But she has so many big hits with actually good videos that lack views compared to smaller hits by other pop stars. Might be because they have had big hits in recent years that have boosted old songs but still, i don't think they diffrence should be this big :awkney:

you explained it in your last phrase. other artists have had more recent streaming hits which has boosted their entire discography. I remember before Waka Waka Shakira's youtube numbers were ok at best. But when she transitioned and SMASHED into the streaming era all her discography got massive boosts. Hence why some of her 2001-2006 songs have as much streams as some of Gaga's 2009-now mvs. In the pop realm it's all about staying relevant and adapting to new music consumption formats. Gaga has not done this successfully with streaming.
