I mean, it seems to me like it was only yesterday that they could have released a shitty song and it would be at least TOP 10 for some time! Katy alienated 90% of her fanbase with supporting Hillary in the election, her going against Trump and the media buzz surrounding the "message" of CTTR didn't help either, neither did her digs at Britney and mental health issues, then her era become more and more messy aesthetically as time progressed and it turned off even the hardcore gay stans because she didn't serve beauty and chart receipts anymore. Nicki never had a strong fanbase to begin with + her antics and public feuds (Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus & Remy Ma, Orlando shooting, using Nazi imagery and giving a non-apology, controversy about mocking disabled people) turned off casual fans/listeners. People used to ridicule Gaga for being frontloaded, due to having a large and dedicated fanbase, but at least it will guarantee that first week sales will never be a complete disaster. The funny about necki is that she had a feud with Taylor indirectly about racial discrimination and stuff, and then teamed up with Miss Cultural Appropriation Perry. Another reason why Nicki is commercially not doing well. She tried to market her music towards "woke" people and then goes on collabing with people who are known for things she criticizes. People aren't dumb, they see when someone is not being genuine about something. Marketing pop music as some leftist, liberal woke experience that will open your third eye is not working, neither for Nicki nor for Katy. It's just pop music, not a political manifesto. She mocked disabled people? i don't know if I'm ready to find out what she said about the Orlando shooting There was an Instagram video of her supposedly mocking a disabled person, in the end it turned out the person in question wasn't disabled at all. But while she was defending herself on Instagram, her comments became messy and she lashed out at people harshly and used ableist slurs. The Orlando thing was that she didn't say ANYTHING on the shooting and when some of her LGBT stans on Twitter asked her to comment on it, she blocked them. That left a sour taste in lots of Nicki's core fanbase, which would explain the rather underwhelming commercial performances of her recent singles. They have basically alienated their core fanbases and are unapologetic about it. It's not really a medical mystery as to why the numbers ain't the T anymore.
