I can't argue someone who thinks religion equals ignorance, as if religion was such a one-dimentional subject that can be dismissed with a blunt statement. Clearly your knowledge about religion is limited and nothing I say is going to change that, so let's leave it at that (besides, half of GGD already feels the same way, so what difference would it make).

I can't argue with someone who fails to acknowledge the fact that religion is a manifestation of superstition and ignorance.

But I guess I shouldn't expect the GP to know a thing or two about religion, its roots, and nature. :noparty:

Honestly I would respect religion more if religious people admitted that their faith has no basis and therefore is ignorant instead of trying to justify it with weak arguments.

So much islamaphobia in this thread.

respect Islam (the religion of peace) and stop being bigots

I dont understand how you can say this when in a large majority of Islamic countries you can be put to death or imprisoned for being gay.

Hands up to the sky, I'm about to fly!

Good old religion! It's hard to believe that something that was invented by and for people who are so scared of what happens when we die could bring about so much hatred and death all on its own. Religions all over the world have been controlling people through fear and threats (terrorism) for thousands of years, and here we are still witnessing the damage it does. And no, it's not just Islam; we can't forget that other snuggly, cuddly, peaceful religion that essentially wiped out the American Indian peoples. Boo, Europe doesn't like our religion, let's leave! Boo, these Indians respect nature and animals and their ancestors, we can't have that ****! Convert or die! What a nice club they have there. I'd be f*****g ASHAMED to ever count myself as part of one of these organized hate groups. I love how christianity rewrote their book to be a little less crazy, however in its original form it's just as violent and discriminatory as the muslim book, and they come from the same part of the world, so it's no surprise that they have such similarity. Can we just give all these idiots an island somewhere and they can preach to each other about all the bs they can think of and leave the rest of the world alone? The rest of us would be better off for it.

Indonesia consists of islands.

And Aceh is an autonomous province, so I don't think it's fair to slap "Indonesia" as generalization that this is what they do to gay peoples down there.

Yes, the country need progress. But how we address this issue is not quite fair.

The Bible isn't much better so don't pretend like one religion is better than the other..... They are all screwed up.

Even if religion disappeared, there would be mean people anyway. Religion is probably the main factor but there's a possibility that sentences would be worse because they would not have a magical law or something that stops them from killing with high levels of cruelty.

Let's hope that these people change their minds in the future, we're going down

Thanks for directing the convo towards this. I think I get the point. Not an attack but I'm just gonna post away towards the thread in general.

Tbh, I don't think religion is in and of itself bad, just people who take the laws of them too dogmatically and forget that we're still all the same as humans. Religion is yes, a form or like contract between a person and some code or dogma, a set of ideals, and although I understand why others want to obliterate the concept wholly, I do think that it's not all evil. I'm pretty sure that there are good things come from it, and some good that people learn from it. There are good and bad sides to everything, so don't be so quick to paint it black or white.

I think sometimes, we're too quick to really express how we feel by, too easily, placing blame on things we can't inherently control ourselves, and that it gets us moody and enraged. Passion is good, just don't let it affect yourself in a ways of trying to understand each other first.

Like I'm sorry for sounding condescending and stuff, but I think sometimes we lose ourselves in the tech specs of an argument and forget about the main point of whatever thread we're in. Fine, that's cool. At least try to understand each other, if not for care, but for a better argument after.

I'm not even sure where this conversation might exactly go per se, and I get the cause and effects behind what everyone's saying. Injustice done to 2 men because of religious laws, so we attack religion bc now they're going to be punished. I see that. But don't forget that the one doing the punishing are humans too. Humans are doing this to other humans.

Don't act like them, do better. And if you are gonna argue, set aside your predispositioned mind sets and try to work together to finding practical solutions to what happened. I get the whole differences and freedom of speech and opinions and everything, but if you truly wanted to make a better change, express yourself constructively and leave all of your displaced tensions to sort out with yourself or at least someone you trust.

Don't tech spec check me, you know what I mean to say, what I'm talking about.

I hope someone in that vicinity helps the two men out of there. They've already gone through so much, and I hope they can recover and thrive through all this anguish that they're facing. My heart and thoughts go out to them.

Yes, I also do love partying in moving houses as seen in that one Bacardi tv ad.

Heyo, I'm glad you can understand what I'm trying to saying :)

Do ya think anyone will follow this media wise? I don't have much info on the systems there, but like, I want to keep updated. Can't someone intervene?
