Guys something really unfair is happening.

Israel and Cyprus are leading in views, which isn't surprising necessarily, but not by THAT much and I found out why.

Their 2 songs are the only songs that show up when you search "Israel Semi Final 1"  on youtube.

Please try to search for Bulgaria Bones Semi Final 1 

 

the video of the PERFORMANCe does NOT pop up at all, nowhere in the first page.

How is that possible?

Random thoughts:

At first I was mad that Jamala won but a year later I watched the performance again and appreciated it more and got why she won. Her tree moment was amazing. With Salvador I'm still mad cause there were so many artists that were giving their 200% and really wanted to win. Salvador was shading the contest and acting embarrassed that he was participating at every opportunity. His song wasn't that great either and the way he was singing was cringe at another level. He should shut up now. If he really was a music lover he would appreciate every music genre. You can dislike a certain genre but still show respect for the artists. Anyhow, his karma is coming. He's going to hand out the trophy to either Netta or Eleni and tbh I hope they shade him on the spot like "Not bad for a firework act huh?" or "long live fast food music! I'm eating mcdonalds tonight". Sadly they're both too kind to do this. Sorry for this long post but I had to write it down to calm down  

On SF 2: I only like The Netherlands, Australia, Denmark, Moldova, Hungary and Sweden so I hope they qualify. I wish acts like Greece, Belgium, Azerbaijan and Croatia were put in this SF. Anyhow I'll be back tomorrow to seethe about Rybak qualifying. Goodnight

So tonight's jury show didn't have the crowd engaged as the first semifinal. Australia was the only one getting a loud applause during the recaps, followed by Sweden and Ukraine. Hungary live was pretty intense. Low-key stanning for their act. Norway had the crowd going right before he started but that was really it.

One of the hostess seemed to have fumbled quite a bit tonight with her English and her cues, so hopefully she gets her act together for tomorrow night. The small interval act was cute and funny, though.

My guess is that Norway will drop in the odds after tomorrow night. We'll see.

I'm kinda late to this thread but I'll try to be active on Saturday! 

Watched the recap of the songs but I barely remember any of them so I have to watch it again  

So no favorites yet, but I gotta root for Sweden... because I'm Swedish and live not too far away from Benjamin

Nevertheless he is still right to some extend. I actually listened a few days ago to a podcast basically talking about the same topic just with movies. We sometimes do trade quality for cheap entertainment. And we do indeed currently live in a phase where  lot of fast food songs/movies get produced. How many DJ songs sound the same, there are less full choruses with strong melodies, how often gets something old sampled - how many songs take on important and serious topics but just hide it between shallow sounds with no real reasoning behind it (I am looking at you Netta), afraid when they say what they want to say might cost their career?

I understand what you are saying, but Salvador comes from an arrogant point of view like "I'm doing real music and the rest no" and it's not correct at all.. it's just like the heavy metal fans saying about pop that it's trash but they never took a second to listen to some masterpieces.

Recent hits are trashing pop music in my opinion, this is true, but this is the hits machine that helps the industry survive and letting serious artists survive.. it's the only way to keep the machine going..

About Netta, unfortunately those who don't like her song or her, simply don't understand her art and her as a person..

Toy's simple lyrics are caused by language barriers of her listeners who are mostly Israelis.. (unlike what people think the majority speaks simple English or don't speak it at all).

Netta is a young woman that was oppressed all her life and got sh-t from others because of her size and even now she suffers from so many bad comments about that.. her music is her liberation, she's happy and the music is happy.. and she's using the instrument called Looper, it's like the guitar that Gaga used in DITD at the Brits.. I find many similarities between her art and Gaga's art for example.. it'svery experimental.. in Israel the song was not liked by many people because it's something new and bizarre..

 

And at the end the Eurovision and the Euro-pop was always built on simple lyrics and fun.. all the dance songs from Aqua, Vengaboys and so on are from Europeans..
