My hopes are on either Desiree, Stig Rästa or Ellis Pärna & Gerli Padar. I really like their songs so don't let me down Estonia :bon:

Both Stig Rästa and Gerli Padar are familiar faces in the Eurovision world. Stig was one of the fan favorites in 2015 together with Elina Born and Gerli represented Estonia in 2007 and sadly missed the final.

Albania becomes the first country to fully select their entry. It was Eugent Bushpepa who won the Albanian national final with the song "Mall"

Some news from your favorite country in the contest: Germany! :trollga:

Looks like we found the six contestants for the national selection. They will present their songs in February, where Germany will make the final decision of who we will send :sis: I recognize two of the artists, for the others I will have to do some research about. But it seems like they've chosen strong artists with some presence on the stage, unlike in the past years. Now I am curious about the songs and what they will come up with.

A new Eurovision year is just around the corner. Before we get there, here's a great throwback to Eurovision 2017 and also some entries from previous years. It's the top 50 most viewed entries during 2017. Happy New Year ESC fans :tony:

Georgia has selected the ethno-jazz group Iriao to go to Lisbon. The song will be revealed at a later stage.

Eurovision 2018 looked so good in 2017. :poot:

It will look good again in March when Mariette wins Melfest :diane:

To keep this thread alive, here's this years first Eurovision Throwback Thursday :tony: (and because I'm bored waiting for the oven to get heated up :poot:)

10 years ago, 2008 was a special year. It was a year when the wind of changes stormed over Eurovision. The concept of two semi-finals was introduced and the juries came back. However, their role were pretty small.
9 of the finalists from each semi-final were decided by televoting and the 10th finalist was chosen by the juries.
The final then still had 100% televoting.

The contest was held in Belgrade, Serbia and Russia won for the first time thanks to Dima Bilan who returned after his 2nd place in 2006.

Fun fact: 2008 also had the one of the most, if not the most, underrated entry in the history of Eurovision. (Yes it's a fact :neyde: )

It was Sweden with the stunning Charlotte Perrelli. She was the fan favorite to win, but she only reached 12th place in the semi-final. However, the juries brought her to the final where she only reached 18th place and the heart of a 15 year old Charlotte fan (read: mine) was broken :selena:

Is it bad that I want Sweden to win again because they can put on a great show :rip:

Ukraine was pretty forgettable tbh

omg I remember that I LOVED to listen to this and basically overplayed it at home :selena: didn't know such a drama happened behind the scenes (at that time I was not as well informed about this kind of stuff). Sounds like someone caught the "fan-favorite"-curse :triggered:
