for me, what's missing is in theĀ verses. They're soooo boring. The """vocals""" are terrible and there's almost no instrumental. Except for A-YO, DIC and maybe MR and JAD.

I agree to some extent, but another thing that made Joanne less of an exciting era (for me at least) was how dull it was at times. To me, it all seemed very halfhearted, unlike ARTPOP where she went 100% into the album. She breathed, lived and loved that album and it was so clear whatever she did during the era. There was passion.Ā

Unlike Joanne, where she tried to make it very down to earth, analog, and acoustic (clear when she was talking about family and how she used a typewriter for a more tactile connection to the music.) That's what the dive bar tour achieved (and the recent Million Reasons promo vid for the Dive Bar Tour.) I saw many saying that's the aesthetic she should've kept throughout Joanne, in every little detail. I agree. becauseĀ when you vary between GAGA and Joanne, it turns into a lacklustre mess..

Additionally, the album has much less of the Lady Gaga force and creativity behind it. This is evident in the lyrics of the album. Most of them very mediocre. (and to me perfect illusion sounded like a Eurovision song with the key change and everything. don't get me wrong, i LOVE it, it's one of the best of her career. But, at first, those cliche eurovision song vibes were too real to me)Ā Aside from John Wayne, dancin in circles, and hey girl where you can clearly hear gaga's input in the music (the edgy and meaningful lyrics and the beats).

IDK man this is tough. This turned into a rant but I completely agree with something being less than what I'm used to from a complete project of hers. It's hard to pinpoint though.Ā

Spoiler

All Ā of this summed up is partly why I'm already looking forward to a new eraĀ :gaycat:

Ā

be kind guys

so you like The Cure more than Joanne.Ā

interesting.Ā :poot:

Joanne for me is her best album yet. The themesĀ and the overall feelĀ of the album flooredĀ me more than her previous releases.Ā Joanne was Gaga at her most mature, pouring out a Bruce Springsteen-y influence in its purest form.

It's a Gaga-type risk that for the most part, succeeded in what itĀ intended to do, which was to let the audience experienceĀ a more raw, emotional, human side of Gaga.

imo the only thing Joanne is missing varies by person. If Gaga didn't do something 'Gaga' enough in one respect or another that a person loves on Joanne, she'll get roasted for it. Taken on its own Joanne as an album is solid and strong.Ā

When she was promoting 'Joanne' on radio it felt unnatural and forced, imo.
