I think it's cause his body movement isn't fluid enough. The whole time he seemed a bit stiff. He has the voice, he just needs to loosen up a bit.

The dance feels inappropriate for this song, and him in the polo is... so him  Being a pop-boy, he's not really expected to dance or anything, just walk around emphatically and pop his collar, so like, its not that bad in comparison

He actually has a really nice voice, and writes good hooks, and even though I kind of hated Nine Track Mind, idk why it was so universally hated, like 37 on metacritic?  Maybe its because he's a guy that basically made an album that a "pop girl" would make? Generally generic lyrics, decent to good vocals, good hooks, not much diversity topic wise... but I mean, like, he's not cashing in on "soul" or 80s, or rock, or hip hop, or sex appeal (to teen girls, gays, etc.) or a band, so he won't be as successful as people like JB, JT, Bruno, Jason, Shawn Mendes, even Nick Jonas, etc. but still.. He's not that bad  

Having briefly followed him on YouTube before he really took off, I wish him all the success in the world

Also, I find awkward pasty white guys super sexy and he could get it any time
