blackcoffee 1,264
Let me preface with this...I completely understand and get that Lady Gaga is nowhere near the first pop artist to do something like Joanne, a pop album that is tinged with country, folk, and rock. That said, considering the music climate right now, Joanne is very different and has its own vibe, that she even created a hashtag for #JoanneVibes. I'm absolutely obsessed with those vibes and even was a bit before Joanne came out (listening to folksy pop, indie, alternative, and pop music). So, recently a handful of major pop stars have started to have some Joanne vibes themselves. Things being said, music, and looks all very much in the same vein as Joanne. For example, Miley Cyrus. She is great and truly shines in country pop rock. Her newest single, Malibu (also where Gaga lives and wrote/recorded all of Joanne; I created a post a long time ago about how I thought the scenery and history of Malibu helped inspire some of the folksiness of Joanne), is described as "gimmick free pop rock", with her new music being described as more rootsy. Definitely soinds like some Joanne vibes there. Her photo shoot for BB also had a great aesthetic and some of the things she said, like music bridging the conservatives and liberals, is very close to what Gaga said when promoting Joanne. http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/magazine-feature/7783997/miley-cyrus-cover-story-new-music-malibu Harry Styles has also been releasing AMAZING, very anti-trendy music that is super classic rock (Sign of the Times) and even a little folksy (Sweet Creature). He performed a new song today and I'm getting even more Joanne vibes. From the pink cowboy look, to the guitar, to the bluesy rock n roll sound that reminds me a bit of A-YO. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/watch-harry-styles-unveil-plucky-new-song-carolina-w481384 I am fully here for this all and will support these artist because this stuff is and sounds right up my alley. I am not trying to say these artist are copying Gaga or anything...not at all. I do wonder though if Joanne, with it's classic sounds and aesthetic, was partially an inspiration for them to go a more non-trendy, classic route. Either way, I am SO here for it. Now, here's where I'll get a bit delusional...anyone who's seen me post here knows I am like the biggest Joanne stan. It is like my perfect album from Lady Gaga, and I've loved her since 2008. Anyways, with these big names doing more folksy, country, and rock tinged pop, and with Taylor Swift on the way this year with hopefully some more (she's recording in Nashville and idk, I have a feeling she'll start putting some country back in her music), I think Gaga should totally go back to promoting Joanne and doing some more of the singles off of that flawless album. MR is obviously beloved by fans and GP alike and I feel it can be just the beginning. If these big names, like Cyrus, Styles, and maybe even Swift, find success and open the GP more to these classic, non-trendy sounds, Gaga has a really good opportunity to take advantage of that opening and jump on the train and see more success from it. Joanne has SO MUCH untapped potential. Am I still bitter she basically temporarily halted Joanne for a one-off basic single to hype her Coachella performance, yes I am, but I have that right. The era was much too short and I need it to keep going, especially after seeing things like this PERFECT video https://vid.me/fVWz I NEED more of this vibe and aesthetic. Literally perfect. Anyways, there's my recent thoughts! Thanks for reading haha

I should have known after writing all that the only thing noticed would be a small comment I made about TC. Look, I won't say too much about it because it's totally not the point I wanted to make, but it's a cute song for what it is. I'm glad many enjoy it, but it's definitely not my cup of tea and the whole pandering to current radio trends thing is off-putting to me. Again though, I'm glad that many here enjoy it so much

Thomas P 18,479
Yes actually I think MR is gonna open the door for the more sringer songwrighter type music to really become popular. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.
REALITY 76,224
I hope more artists go with this whole "Joanne vibes" thing. I've always been a fan of "old school" music: rock, folk, etc., and I feel like it's recently [slowly, but surely] becoming more prevalent with pop music. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
Hades 27,980
Well when Joanne was released it was a bit strange for everyone but now we are used to it. Personally even though i am European and those sounds are not very popular i live for songs like A-Yo. I'm tired of those tropical sounds that even rappers are using now. I love chillout music but the current trend is overused.

I have always been a huge fan of old school, classic music, just like Gaga has been. I really hope it starts to become more prevelant. There's just so much more warmth and depth in the analogous recordings of real instruments and unfiltered vocals on an album like Joanne. It's just so comforting and great. Rino 5,120
You forgot to mention Joanne's influence on Katheryn Hudson OT: it's a nice idea, but I think one album cycle filled with country vibes is enough for a pop star. I would like to see her evolve and try new things everytime. 月にかわって、おしおきよ!🌙
