Why Does Gaga Feel So Far Removed From Her Contemporaries?

Today you need to do features, you need to stage publicity stunts.... fake relationship.

These are such ugly cheap tactics to get your name out there and be "relevant", it's a blessing Gaga doesn't have to resort to it.

The difference between the people you mentioned and Gaga is simple: talent. She lets her talent speak for itself, which is something that very few of those that you listed above are capable of doing, which is why they resort to anything they can to remain "relevant". Gaga doesn't need that. Why you would even wish any of the mediocrity on her is beyond me.

idk The Weekend is really the male Gaga imo, he's really good.. but he's voice sounds sometimes like MJ's voice and it freaks me out so I need to switch off the radio and calm down for a few minutes..

About Gaga, let's be honest, her super ego and her "superior" behavior kinda destroyed her success.. she's always acting like she's better than EVERYONE, she's speaking about her music like it's some kind of world changing research that she published on Duke Journal..

She needs to stop this, it's tiring, it makes people run away from her.. everything is so serious and "music not the bling".. come on... so donate all the millions that you got from us, the poor/average people instead of flashing your big house and expensive cars at us or just admit that you like the lifestyle of the rich and famous and act like one of them..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Gaga is inspired by the old school music industry and that's how she rolls. It's why she's not working with her contemporaries and works with iconic 'musicians' with long long careers behind them. Doesn't mean she doesn't like than and doesn't mean she's not relevant she's just not interested. She does her own thing from day dot. Imagine if she was like our resident 'rent a rapper' good sis Nicki Minaj and collaborated with eeevvveeerrryyyyooonnnneeeee! Her work would become hollow and lifeless! Gaga music speaks from experience not a trend.

Ok, this made me laugh. :sharon:

I'm okay with her pretentiousness though, it shows that she takes her music seriously.

I'm ok with people running away from her that don't want to take the time to understand her.   Gaga tries not to shoot for the lowest common denominator.  It takes a little effort, patience, and a willingness to change and think and have an open mind to be a Gaga fan, and that's a good thing.

I think the answer to the question is easily wrapped up with one consideration: name the last time you saw any of her "contemporaries" play an instrument? Granted many of those contemporaries are amazing, arguably better, vocalists, but NO ONE is a musician like Gaga is.

She's back to being the weird art girl not fitting in with the popular kids in high school :fthis:

Ed Sheeran plays an instrument, that's his whole shtick. He's the white guy with a guitar.

Yes! I feel like he's one of the few who she would collab with and actually consider her contemporary rn - same with Florence - but as far as the pop/diva "scene" goes its very few and far between.

Gaga rn has her own world, where pop music adapts to her. We adapt. She's already had to hang out and almost go on tour with Kanye, sing with Beyonce, and all that stuff. She is in her own level rn. Even if sales are lower, her credibility is higher than her contemporaries'.

She seems removed from the music circles because she doesn't belong to that circle. That's not her world because they're not like her, and obviously you hang out with people who are like you. These people are not like her because they don't have the same ideas or principles that she has. And that's because they're not artists like Gaga is. Gaga is more at ease hanging out with people like Marina Abramovic, Robert Wilson or Elton John. That's where she belongs.

This. I can't really picture Gaga hanging out/collaborating with any of the new pop girls/rappers like Nicki and Rihanna are. She seems to prefer the musical legends like Tony and Elton

I'm done with this ****. I can't stan anymore it's too emotionally exhausting.

The fact you think people on this message board care... I'm serious, you need to get out and meet some real life friends and see a therapist. Stan culture isn't real. ATRL isn't real. Lady Gaga is is one of the most celebrated, decorated, respected artists of our time, but I'm not even going to get into it.

Not trying to be mean at all dude but you should take a step back and look at your life and see what's missing or going wrong and what you can work on.

She's always been like that though- since the beginning of her career. She never liked interacting with her contemporaries or collaborating with them. I think part of the reason why is because she wants her success to come from her and not from a superstar collab (even though Telephone and Video Phone happened :laughga:- but also Beyonce was a legend in the making at that point so she's different). The other reason is because I think she thinks of herself differently. She doesn't feel like she's in the same lane as the other artists. Not saying she's better but I think her work is more based on personal inspiration whereas her contemporaries are more chart driven (I won't name names but I feel like I don't need to :lolga:).

I've always liked this about her cause she doesn't seem fake or desperate. She's just being her and not trying to play the game.
