Jenny from the Block The only other tolerable song from the trite and clichéd This Is Me…Then, Jenny from the Block remains one of Jennifer Lopez’s signature songs. It has a chorus that (almost) everyone knows by heart and a drive beat, so it’s hard not to fall in love with the song. With up-and-coming artists like Becky G covering the song, it’s clear the track resonates with a diverse group and is a true classic that transcends age and other superficial binds. There is no heavy rift here, just a Spanish-guitar and Lopez herself. A track from her most recent studio album, A.K.A., Let It Be Me is one song from the album that refrains from dividing fan opinion. The consensus: that the song ranks with Lopez’s best and they’re not wrong. Let It Be Me is a personal ballad that hits the mark in every way possible. I do not know. I find myself randomly singing the chorus in my head and it never quite bothers me. It’s a song that makes you want to move…makes you want to dance. I’ve said it before in regard to her work, but this song is pure pop-perfection and a brilliant addition to Lopez’s diverse catalog.
