Youtubers really used to put a whole lot of effort in their videos tho. 2010-2014 was the best period, there was quality content which showed the creator's creativity and you could also make a good amount of money if you were lucky enough to become popular. Before that it was more about having fun and sharing your creativity with others. But yeah, nowdays most Youtubers don't really bother to make anything too interesting beside following trends.

Why are people saying that being a Youtuber isn't a real job?  These videos are made for entertainment, so they're basically in the entertainment industry

And a majority of Youtubers have other "real" jobs or even their own businesses and use Youtube as a side job/extra income

It's just like how a singer like Gaga has a crew so she can produce her content, for which the medium is Spotify, iTunes, etc. Some people dont put much effort into their YT videos, sme people don't put much effort into their music. 

 

LMAO sure, all those gamers, reactors, and more just needed a DSLR camera and sound recording and called it a studio. And many of them still editing their videos in free app on Mac lmao. Plus they didn't get paid for it, they got money cos YouTube used to to thrive with ads so they can monetize their uploads. Having a job is getting paid by private sector on first hand. What these YouTubers are just mooching off a system. Which is why maybe Youtubers now leaving YT cos it doesn't give money anymore since ad revenue are decreasing lmao

As I said, some people put effort into their videos and some don't  Gamers don't make up the majority of youtube content and neither do the channels that people on this site mention frequently that do all the challenges and reactions. There's comedy channels that do fully produced skits, science channels, educational content, general entertainment and so many other parts of youtube that are all affected by this loss in money.

Well, they are entertaining and such, but I don;t consider them having a job. I likened them to the miners during the Gold Rush era, there was a place, thy got their tools and they find themselves a little wealth. But those are not a job.

He's still making parodies, just family friendly ones, so he's hardly leaving, making his title click-bait after all. We'll see how he progresses with this idea because adult humour doesn't necessarily make something less funny. His parodies were always so childish but at least they were parodies. Very few people seem to make them anymore. The Key Of Awesome is still going (the best parody makers) but their views and likes have hit rock bottom and I don't know why, seeing as they're actually family friendly. I've noticed a lot more people are disliking their videos now and I don't know if it's because viewers don't like the mean-spirited nature of their parodies (it can get a bit much) or they genuinely don't think the parody is that good or a mixture of both. I think lyric-wise, they're still good but their production levels have gone down. Music is really hard to parody right now, no one's doing anything exciting or hilariously bad anymore.

Wow, what's happening there? I remember way back, a video from TheWaterWhispers got age restricted! I don't know how because she never swore in it or said or did anything inappropriate and she was just making a compilation of various trigger sounds. She got onto the site and they removed the restriction but never said why it got restricted. My only guess is that someone who was majorly sensitive saw the video, saw a woman stroking her hands with a make-up brush while whispering and assumed this is one of those videos for men with weird fetishes, hence, inappropriate and flagged it (and for some bizarre reason, enough people did this and YouTube agreed with their ruling). It blows my mind how this stuff can happen. I mean, it's clear from her channel and she has said herself that all this stuff is nothing sexual. Ok, hands up, I sometimes get more than relaxation from some ASMR videos involving men whispering at the camera romantically, but that's another story! The whole point of ASMR is relaxation and if anyone's turned on by it, it's on them, it's not intentional on the creator's part. The thing is, even if some people viewed it as a fetish, why should that be enough to get it restricted? A fetish is when someone feels aroused by something non-sexual. Therefore, it's only sexual to those with the fetish. To everyone else, it's just a woman inexplicably stroking shoes or tapping her fingernails on a table. Honestly, some people.
