I mean you (general you) can have a mental illness but it doesn't erase the impact of having a bad attitude. If you are accidentally manipulative, lash out, raise your voice on people who are fearful of it, etc., it's still your responsibility to apologize for what you've done, and to try to manage better so you don't hurt people that way again. 

Just because something is explainable doesn't always mean it's excusable.
