Harry 26,836
So there's a new playlist to watch on UK Spotify - Summer Hits UK. Apparently it had a massive effect last year, and it's just come out again. They haven't put The Cure on it which seems unfair because there's all kinds of songs on there also charting atm, many of which are doing worse than Gaga - including BA. So seems like another snub. But it updates weekly so hopefully there's still time.

StrawberryBlond 15,036
Glad to see it in the top ten in the UK charts. I honestly thought it might be lucky to scrape #10 at this stage but to go to #8, wow. Is radio continuing to pick it up? I really want her to get a new peak this week. I don't know how it can't peak higher than #19 when its been above 19 on itunes all of last week and is clearly getting streams. 19 minutes ago, Whispering said: Maybe there was a reason why Dr. Luke and Bonnie McKee were on most of Katy's big hits. Now that she isn't using them to write her songs, she has lost "her" voice, or what made her unique. I've been saying for a long time that they're the brains behind her big hits. It's their personality on those songs, not hers. Whenever Katy writes a song almost completely by herself, it's always a ballad or a little indie song, not a big bubblegum pop banger because this is the real Katy - the acoustic ballad singer, not a popstar. She doesn't sound like the same singer without them, so it's very telling. I remember Bonnie once said that she loved Teenage Dream (the song) so much that she wishes she'd kept it for herself. That perhaps tells you that she practically wrote it all herself and Katy just changed a line or two. She also had to choose between Katy and Gaga in an either/or game and said she'd ditch Katy so "I wouldn't have to keep writing songs for her." Really makes you wonder about how much Katy really wrote on "her" hits. If you listen to Bonnie's song, American Girl, you realise it could have fitted right on Teenage Dream and you'd never have doubted for a second that Katy had played a part in writing it but...she didn't. Arturo 40,746
Despacito is fun at parties but I don't really see it as the type of song i'd want to be listening to when studying or just walking with my earphones on. The fact that it's doing this well and not just a weekend song is beyond me
