kupo 201
I still think it's far and away her weakest effort to date. Easily.

AphroditeLaydee 1,230
I've always loved ARTPOP though. It's not her best work, but it's the first era where I became a full-time stan, and it will always have a special place in my heart. I even stopped stalking GGD for a while back then cuz most of y'all was so negative. Some stans here were right back then that in the future, people will love ARTPOP more. disneyhigh 43
uhm Ive been a fan of ARTPOP since it was released. The media and haters skewed peoples view of it originally. Also dance music in that form was on its way out. If Gaga didn't break her hip and released it originally in late 2012-Early 2013, I'm sure the perception of it would have been a lot better. Honestly not upset though that it is now being treated with the love it deserves. Its a super fun album that isn't preachy or political like Born This Way. I mean, "Uranus, don't you know my ass is famous?" says it all about how Gaga intended for the project to be. Just a super fun album you listen to getting ready for the club or dancing around naked and singing when no ones home lol. Anyway, ARTPOP is one of my favorites. Some stuff I do find cringy at times but I accepted it for what it is. Also VENUS is hands down one of her best songs. I remember playing it at house parties when it came out and I had freaking straight guys coming up to me asking what the song was called lol. Its such a Gaga song(weird, disoriented but so amazing sonically/lyrically i.e. Bad Romance) that Im still upset it got paid dust.
kupo 201
For me its: TFM/BTW-A+ (So hard to pick...TFM is nearly perfect, but BTW is more ambitious) TF-A- (It sounds a bit dated, but it also is a fully realized sound and concept, and the singles and a few of the deep cuts still hold up incredibly well) Joanne-B+ (a really solid pop album, but not as cohesive for me as TF) ARTPOP-C (almost none of the songs here work for me in their entirety. I will say though, even Gaga at her worst is still interesting, which is a lot more than you can say for a lot of her peers. Most of these songs have elements that I find really compelling, they just don't gel altogether and there are an equal number of moments that make me cringe)

Lord Temptation 11,209
Some of you have such a short memory. In 2013 almost everyone was bagging ARTPOP as sounding too dated, too electronic, too 2010. Or whatever. To me the worst thing that was said was that it "took itself too seriously". I mean WTF how is that even meant to be an insult? The truth is that it didn't sound like anything else that year. It definitely didn't sound like Lorde, Miley, Haim or any of the other new It Girls of '13. But that is exactly why it still sounds so fresh today. Looking back it almost seems like it was deliberately designed and built to fail - but appreciated in a future galaxy, space and time. Like all artisanal things it only gets better with age.
Batwings 12,886
The same thing happened with BTW, but people have selective memory. I remember people saying it was too "try hard," that the production was messy, that the album wasn't cohesive, blah blah blah, fast forward a couple of years, and people were praising it as Gaga's magnum opus. When the exact same sh*t started happening when ARTPOP was released, I totally called it, that two or three years later, people would stop sh*tting all over it and start praising it. GagaUnderYou 4,994
This is the case with every Gaga release. When her next album comes out everyone will say Joanne is her best work. Art isn;t appreciated until it gets comfortable.
