She can be just as problematic as the far-right conservatives. Some of her videos actually touch upon important topics, while the majority of them are attention seeking, biased, and incoherent.

It's so annoying to me when SJWs go after celebrities/artists who have already done more for equality than 99% of their peers. Like what else do you want Gaga to do? She should stop bitching about a woman who has done so much for the LGBTQ movement at the peak of her career and go after someone who actually deserves it (or go work on her makeup or something else productive). They always come off so ungrateful and self-important 🚮

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

"Whyyyy didn't she bring people together ON THE WORLD STAGE boo hoo"

GIRL cut the crap, she did. In fact, that's exactly what she did. She didn't widen the gap, instead she made a statement of togetherness. And everyone enjoyed it.

Sometimes a good performance is just the thing to bring people together. It's a welcome distraction in tough times. And everyone agreed Gaga did a great job. Everyone was happy. That's unity to some degree.

Had she made a super controversial statement everyone would be fuming and it would have made things worse.

Like some of you pointed out, why isn't she pressed about Bey not making a statement at her own Super Bowl at the time? Ugh the hypocrisy.

Finally got to the quote and watched a bit further. Didn't see the timecode :green: The quote isn't even that talked about, its just a side comment, and you can disagree it with that's fine

But what she says after? I don't disagree tbh

She could've done more. I wanted her to do more.

It's not about whether she feels she "has to", or if she does "have to", its just that she had some kind of opportunity and didn't. Clearly, I don't know if they were like "If you say anything pro x, anti x, etc. or even close, we'll kill your first born son" or anything extreme, but if it was something like "You will be fined", then It is exactly the time to do or say something.

Shhhh Kat isn't praising Gaga 110%, she must be ideologically eradicated

Like this thread actually has me kind of fuming because Kat is like the least controversial person I can think of that discusses social issues but Christ one wrong word about Gaga and it's "SJW this SJW that" y'all are some sycophantic hoes to get your bussy covers this tied up in knots over a literal sentence. Like I never want to hear y'all criticize any public figure again  for being problematic if this is the straw that breaks the PC camel's back. Christ :rip:

I personally consider myself a fairly socially aware and politically active person of color, and my opinion is that Gaga in general is pretty political overall.

Yes, a lot of the issues that arises is because of the fact that Gaga is 1) white and 2) from a fairly affluent upbringing and is fairly affluent now.

However, I feel like a lot of people don't acknowledge the fact that she is also one of the most politically outspoken pop musicians in the whole scene right now. I mean, especially from 2009-2012, her political stances were much stronger, bolder, and more outright than many other pop musicians even now. Even Joanne, which is definitely no BTW, still had traces of political themes throughout it.

Is she perfect? No, of course not. We all remember her calling out "retarded" as a modifier in the heat of the moment, or using the burqa/niqab as a metaphor (beautiful and smart as that metaphor may be, it was not in her right to do so).

But to call her performance apolitical? Or equating Born This Way to something as generalizing, equating, and stupid as "All Lives Matter"? No. No. I cannot agree with that.

On that note, I do agree that the general consensus on this site about SJW's is fairly concerning. While I don't agree with Kat, I do agree with you on that.

There's a reason that the gay twitter (eghhhhh) stereotype of Gaga fans are "lowkey racist white twinks". God forbid somebody talk race on here, tbh. But this thread isn't entirely about that, so I'm gonna be hush hush before I get silenced by somebody else.
