Magical, this is a Lana that is not present in any of her other songs, Old Money is something special. First of all, the lyrics are top of the toppest notches. Old Money started off pretty sketchy in the rate, it was somewhere in the top half but lower than it is now, and all of the sudden the 11s just kept rollin in and made it a member of our top 3, congrats!

@Moebius | 11 | "Hands down, one of the best tracks Lana has to offer. The haunting vocals, and how the whole song blends well together, I can't."

@halcyonpop | 11 | "I feel sad about things that I never did, relationships I never had, drinks I never tried, and my desire to drown my melancholic self in pure white light. A masterpiece."

@britneygaga99 | 11 | "This song is a gift from God, and Gagadaily better recognize it."

@IndieKylie | 11 | "My eleven. I love this song, it's so beautiful and so Lana. It's very understated and relatively unrecognized, despite it's brilliance. 'I'll run to you, I'll run to you,' just slays me. And the opening lines? I constantly find myself echoing 'blue hydrangea' randomly..."

@Trepadation | 11 | "The Born to Die of the album, this is what Lana embodies, one of her saddest songs if not saddest."

@Vodka | 10 | "Hated this song bc of a personal experience, but it's a beautiful song. It makes me wanna just dive backfirst onto a field of cologned flowers by the sea."

@musicland | 10 | "WHAT KIND OF ANGEL MERMAID SENT TO EARTH CREATURE CREATES SUCH A MASTERPIECE UMM LANA DOES. She emulates glamour so well. Old Money is one of the most nostalgic tracks on this record for me."

@littlepotter | 10 | "I really hope this makes it to the top 3. Everything about this is perfect. The smooth violins, the soft piano, the breathtaking melody, the heavenly vocals, the nostalgia of it all... Beautiful song."

@sethrb101 | 10 | "Per-fec-tion. Lana sounds so pretty and regal in this one. The instrumental is gorgeous as well."

@SirLudicopro | 10 | "Along with Pretty When You Cry, this is probably the saddest song on the album, although this one relies more on melancholy and nostalgia. The references to Lana's parents (My father's love was always strong / My mother's glamour lives on and on) can pretty much hit a chord with anyone and bring back long forgotten childhood memories. This track has some of the best lyrics of the whole record, which is saying a lot. They just depict Lana's desire to do anything for the person she loves if only they would take her back or send her a sing (But if you send for me, you know I'll come / And if you call for me, you know I'll run). The best part of the song though, in my opinion, is its bridge. The way she sings it with such passion and despair is truly chill-inducing. Those ooh-oohs are also so haunting and tragic sounding. Overall, this is a very sad and haunting ballad that is bound to get to pretty much anyone."

@SinnersVenus | 10 | "There is something so hopeful about the production, and the soaring instrumentation makes me happy. I was contemplating giving it a lower score because I think the verses are too long, but I left it at a 10 because it’s one of the best choruses on the album, for sure."

@Thomas | 10 | "Sonically, Old Money really capture what Lana built up her image to be. Easy, story telling and nostalgic lyrics floating on a bed of impeccable melodies and vulnerability. A stand out track among the themes of rage and desperate love."

@AJK273 | 10 | "Her most beautiful song in her discography, there is such elegant pain in the song and it just is remarkable. It leave you speechless, just listen to it. If you don't like it go get your much needed hearing aid sis."

@Harry | 9.5 | "Straight up one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Her best ballad, hands down. Stunning lyrics and vocals, and the way the chords move in the chorus after the slow moving verses is so effective. I wish she'd play this more."

@ItsTommyBitch | 9.2 | "This is so gorgeous. I still cry to it sometimes  One of the few tracks that kept some strings and cinematic production, and I'm honestly grateful for it.

@narcoswing | 9 | "I liked it more when Ultraviolence was released, but it's still beautiful. The Methamphetamine throwback melts my old Lana stan heart."

@Maleficent | 9 | "strong nostalgia from this song."

@Lona Delery | 8 | "I love Lana's songs with Dan Heath, so no wonder I like this one. It is kind of refreshing to have an orchestral, string and piano driven song after a ton of loud and guitar heavy song. The melody and vocals are haunting and heavenly."

@slayo | | "This is a beautiful song. Kind of like with ‘Cruel World’, I think of this song sometimes as “Bel Air Pt. 2”, but more heartfelt."

@juju | 7.5 | "Yet another downtempo track... But, it does have a nice melody around the post-chorus that earns it a decent enough score from me."

@Evan Peters | 7 | "it reminds me of the great gatsby so i love it automatically."

@Versus | 6 | "beautiful verses but the chorus is so lackluster."

Antonio's Remark | 10

A beautiful cover, I love when Lana does something a bit different than her regular genre, the effect on her vocals is stunning, the jazzy vibes to this track are really great and fitting, imo Lana really made this her own song, Lana's covers are the best, and this should've definitely placed higher!

@Radio Ga Ga | 11 | "I never thought I would ever like songs with such an old sound, but I was so wrong. This song makes me so depressed, and I always feel like I'm the "other woman" she's talking about, cuz when I was listening to this in high school, I had a crush on my straight friend (my roommate too), and he had a girlfriend, who is my friend (not really) , and I felt exactly like a side bit*h living all alone (except he never really liked me). Every single line is written so perfectly! So is old money, but I just like this one slightly more, idk why."

@ItsTommyBitch | 10 | "Everyone seems to hate this track, but this is literally one of my favorites on the standard? It is the perfect cover for Lana. Her voice brings new life to this classic, and the narrative fits SO well on this album, and with Lana in general. The production is beautiful, her vocals mimicing vocal stylings of the era and recording technique all makes it sound very authentic in a totally different but still fitting way compared to Nina Simone. Also, some of Lana's most impassioned vocals on the record. Even with her out of tune drawl on the rising scalar parts, and her shaky vibrato with the cooing towards the end, It's just perfect. The almost trombone-plunger effect that appears towards the middle, the slightly rolled chord and drums at the end.. It's just amazing."

@IndieKylie | 10 | "I absolutely love this cover. Fun fact: this was my morning alarm for a few months."

@AJK273 | 10 | "Her most beautiful song in her discography, there is such elegant pain in the song and it just is remarkable. It leave you speechless, just listen to it. If you dont like it the go get your much needed hearing aid sis."

@Trepadation | 10 | "great cover adds a new spin on the original."

@Maleficent | 10 | "an excellent rendition of an exceptional song."

@halcyonpop | 9.3 | "My favorite Lana cover. I've never been anybody's  mistress, but this song still makes me nostalgic for the days before my sugar daddy decided to stay faithful to his wife."

@Vodka | 9 | "She did the song justice."

@sethrb101 | 9 | "This one is in the same vein as Old Money to me. Very elegant and pretty, but really sad."

@slayo | 8.5 | "I hate to say it, but I do enjoy this cover more than Nina Simone’s original version. The emotion is clearly there, and it can be moving. I'm here for it."

@juju | | "It's got enough going on to set it apart from the generally flat tone of the entire album; her voice has a grainy realness to it, that it sounds like an old forgotten bar tune."

@Moebius | | "While this is my least favorite song of the album, I still think this is a fantastic cover and a crucial part to the record. The way Lana sings "The other woman will spend her life alone" is truly beautiful, sad and haunting. This serves as the end of the standard version of Ultraviolence and I think it serves that purpose just right, although I think Old Money might have been a better choice. Nonetheless, I think this is Lana's best cover and it is a very good song."

@Evan Peters | 7 | "everyone seems to hate this song, but i love it. it's cute n classic Lana."

@SinnersVenus | 7 | "I don’t know what to think about this one. It’s just kinda there. Since I don’t have anything bad to say about it I gave it a decently high score, but honestly I don’t have much positive to say about it except for the lyrics. Those are very interesting."

@Lona Delery | | "Her best cover on an album so far, and it ties the entire story of the album together perfectly."

@Harry | 6.5 | "A cute cover but the arrangement/production are kinda simple. It's a nice choice, it fits Lana well."

@musicland | 6.5 | "I would have put Flipside on the album in place of TOW, but I still love it!"

@littlepotter | | "I hear the regular version of the album ends here. I wish it wasn't even on it. It's really the one song I wouldn't mind not having; nothing about it excites me."

@Queen1551 | 6 | "I really love this song! I just feel that it slows the album pace down too much. It also has a depressing tone to it and it just makes me sad to listen to."

Antonio's Remark | 6

It's definitely the worst track on the album, and I can see why it was only an iTunes exclusive track. Is This Happiness is generally not a bad song, it's very Lana, it's very Ultraviolence, but it's also very boring, very slow and very quiet, feels like Lana is mumbling for most of the song honestly, like she woke up at 5AM and recorded it at 5:30AM, you know what I mean?

@FlyPirate | 11 | "Perfection :giveup:"

@ItsTommyBitch | 10 | "This is my third favorite track on the album, and my most played bonus track. I learned to play this on piano and flute the second I heard it. It's just so laid back and beautiful, but so profoundly sad and pensive. To me, this song is about having to sit down and evaluate life and relationships, and being at that stage where you know the answer is "no", but you keep asking in quiet hopes that you'll keep convincing yourself the answer is yes."

@Lona Delery | 10 | "She's basically mumbling nonsense, but the vocals are haunting and, once again, it is the bridge that makes the song. "One gun on the table, headshot if you're able" is still one of my absolute favorite lines Lana has ever written."

@Moebius | 10 | "oh god."

@Vodka | 10 | "Sorta reminds me of Hallelujah. I love the context behind the track, but for me, it can be a particular taste, just for some occasions. I dislike it, but can appreciate it's blank faced to tears inducing worth."

@britneygaga99 | 10 | "In a word: Devastating."

@IndieKylie | 9 | "The song is good, I'll leave it at that."

@Maleficent | 9 | "I honestly thought this was a classic she had covered, it sounds like an old song."

@musicland | | "I cry if when I get too into the song. I feel her emotion when she repeats "is this happiness,"  I find this track hauntingly beautiful"

@Queen1551 | 9 | "What a beautiful song! I fell in love instantly!"

@halcyonpop | 8.9 | "There was a time in my life when I would have rated this in the upper nines, but I guess something changed."

@SirLudicopro | 8.5 | "This is a very cute and sweet song and while I do like it, it is sort of uneventful compared to the rest of the album which often succeeds at throwing curveballs at you and progressing musically. I do like how angelic and happy it sounds, which is a ray of light among the other dark tracks in here."

@sethrb101 | | "Looooove the beginning. Overall a sad but good song."

@BLACKOUTbritney | 7.5 | "Cute sad bop. One of her really good sad songs."

@littlepotter | 7 | "I'm not really familiar with this song, as it was not in my version of the album back in the day. Nostalgia can not play its part here, so this is mostly an objective opinion (is that even a thing). The instrumentation is nice and soft, and Lana sounds sincere asking if this is happiness. Had this been on the regular version I'd probably enjoy it more. Lucky Ones' improved older sister."

@slayo | 7 | "Soft, sweet, subtle. She's cute. I used to love her a lot, I still do, but just less. I had to realize that even though she is beautiful, she is kind of boring."

@AJK273 | 7 | "The song has some beautifully poetic lyrics and tells a quite sad outlook on life and love which I adore. However, it suffers from a boring instrumental (in comparison to Fine China, A much superior instrumental) and the chorus is so repetitive, I like the witch hazel bridge because that at least is interesting but it doesn't fit the song. The lyrics save this one."

@SinnersVenus | 6 | "I like the way the piano sounds, but the song gets boring as you can’t really hear Lana, and the one thing that could be used to cover that up (instrumental), is too soft. In other words, the song has an instrumental that relies on more powerful vocals and vocals that could use a stronger instrumental. The two just don’t work together, and I honestly don’t know if Lana could do a great piano ballad. A for effort though."

@juju | 6 | "She's okay."

@Evan Peters | 6 | "cute."

Antonio's Remark | 6.5

Although this track seems to be adored in the fanbase, it's my second least favorite track on Ultraviolence, if we're not including the super deluxe editions, it'd be last. It's in no way "bad", but it's just boring and repetitive, lacks instrumentation and the vocal effect is a bit awkward. Also don't like the "yayo, yayo" part at all, if the whole song was like the "come on down to Florida" part it would get a 9 at least.

My Ideal Placement | #15

@SinnersVenus | 10 | "This is a perfect deluxe track, with the instrumentation not fitting into the aesthetic of the album perfectly but the song being amazing and worth releasing. I like her voice on this one, the lyrics are good, and I like the way it sounds. It doesn’t hold up to replay too well, but I still think it’s one of her best on this album, even though I don’t see it doing too well on the rate :P"

@slayo | 10 | "My favorite cocaine anthem."

@ItsTommyBitch | 10 | "This song is honestly one of my favorite upbeat Lana tracks. It's got a hook that has a typical pop function, which is interesting because most of the tracks on this album are solidly dream pop, wall of sound choruses that slowly drill into you with their atmosphere and textures over having infectious melodies. It's also just kind of cute? Her vocal delivery is fantastic and so appropriate, going from bright and cute to nasally like she's literally plugging her nose to mimic snorting coke and dropping into her low range at times too... The hook, along with the sparse almost tropical instrumentation just gets me. TL;DR I'd honesty kill for an entire album of music along this line from Lana."

@IndieKylie | 10 | "Another incredible song on the deluxe edition."

@Trepadation | 10 | "Yaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssss, being a floridan flopster I live for this song, it's truly the anthem."

@Harry | 10 | "Why the hell was this a bonus track?  Such a good change in pace on the album, I love the whole vibe of it. I wish she did more songs like this honestly."

@Maleficent | 10 | "this should be on the standard edition, such a fun song."

@AJK273 | 10 | "This song is a certified BOP BOP BOPPITY BOP. there should have been more of these type of songs on the album. It is honestly one of the best songs on the album and nearly took my 11 but I have more emotional ties to that song. Should have been a damn single but for obvious reasons lines like snort it like a champ wouldn't have gone down with the GP. But it is still a druggy JAM."

@Queen1551 | 10 | "One of my favorites! A true bop to close out her best album."

@SirLudicopro | 9.5 | "This is the most "bop-like" song on the album and it is a good one. It's a very fun and catchy summer jam. The chorus is just so infectious and makes you want to sing along so bad. It's a breath of fresh air on this mostly depressing and slow album. It shows Lana's diversity as an artist and how she can make truly sad and depressing songs, but also fun and catchy pop tunes."

@littlepotter | 9.5 | "The one true bop of the album. It's honestly so different from the rest of the album. I remember everyone stanning it on LittleMonsters.com. It feels like a Paradise outtake, Cola's younger sister. Yaaayooo. The production is interesting and really relaxing, though I wish it picked up after the bridge."

@Moebius | | "More upbeat than the other songs, but it serves."

@Vodka | 9 | "Get me drunk, then we can experience this song even better. I feel like it's sort of meant to be listened to under some sort of influence. No genuine hate or shade, just an idea."

@musicland | 9 | "This way my favorite when Ultraviolence came out. I love that she got inspiration from a cocaine documentary for Florida Kilos."

@Evan Peters | | "*swings on pole* c'mon down to flo-ri-da."

@sethrb101 | 8.9 | "The chorus sells this one for me. I love what Lana is doing with her voice in combination with the music."

@juju | 8.5 | "My homestate! This was one of the few I knew already, and it's a mild summer bop. Kind of strange, it's overall flow and all, but it has nostalgic novelty for me personally."

@Lona Delery | | "Sometimes, I like to listen to this song when I am in a summery mood, but I kinda dislike the way Lana makes her vocals sound in this song. But the "People never die in Miami, that's what they all say" is one of the best lines ever written, I like the lyrics a lot in general."

@britneygaga99 | | "Very catchy, but the lyrics are garbage at " I am rich as piss" levels and ruin the song."

Antonio's Remark | 10

Another song that matches my ideal placement for it! I love Cruel World with all my heart and I truly think it's her best album opener, EVAH. A gritty dirty production makes the song sound so vintage and unique, with an explosive chorus, everything I ever wanted from Lana, Ultraviolence wouldn't have been the same without it.

My Ideal Placement | #6

-----◆-----

Commentary

above 5

  Reveal hidden contents

@AJK273 | 11 | "Cruel World was the first song of Lanas I really listened to and It was a perfect introduction to what I would receive when plunging further into her repertoire. Blake's opening guitar sends noir chills down my spine everytime I hear it, and Lana's opening cries accent the sonic moods of the song, and relate to many outcasts such as myself's feelings towards the world. The swelling chorus makes me emotional, every single time, it's a perfect combination of nostalgia and tone that capitulates Ultraviolence. This song IS Ultraviolence. The other songs on the album don't reach this song's mesmerizing quality, I'm f***in crazy for this song."

@Trepadation | 10 | "Could've replaced ultraviolence as the title track tbh."

@Vodka | 10 | "Lana's always got the best openers for her albums, but this one just rocks. Am i the only one who gets Russian vibes from it from time to time?"

@Thomas | 10 | "Despite not even including the live snippet she used to sing live pre-UV, Cruel World served exactly what I expected it to be but still nothing of what I could ever imagine Lana doing. This psych-rock infused sledgehammering literal BANGER kicks off an epic album that tells a fragile and heart breaking love story of how love and darkness takes over ones life as soon as you commit to it fully. Cruel World sums this album up perfectly lyrically and melodically."

@SirLudicopro | 10 | "What a fantastic way to start this amazing album. My second favorite on the record and probably the best album opener I have ever heard. This is a pop-rock song with psychedelic elements to it and it is a freaking masterpiece. The first few notes are enough to send chills through my whole body and when the first lyrics (Shared my body and my mind with you / That's all over now) come in, you know you're in for a truly great experience. The lyrics tackle a relationship where the other person drives you crazy (in a good way) and yet you know that relationship is toxic. The lines "Because you're young, you're wild, you're free / You're dancing circles around me / You're ****ing crazy" and the way they are sung make it some of the best lyrics I've ever heard in any song. I also like how she sings them more intensely and passionately with every chorus. Overall, this is a spine-chilling, head swaying and magical experience and one of the best songs I've ever heard."

@Maleficent | 10 | "reminds me of my ex, in a good way."

@Harry | 10 | "LEGENDARY. The production of this just swirls as a slow build with Lana's masterful vocal delivery until the climax which gets me emotional af. Amazing opener."

@ItsTommyBitch | 10 | "This song is one of my favorite album openers of all time tbh. It is a bit long and repetitive, but its still incredibly enjoyable and actually feels very short. The chorus just feels like being in a drunken stupor of self pity and anger over someone and its pure catharsis. It ends with the same kind of defiant mood, but somehow I can't imagine doing anything but crying after the songs over. You trick yourself into thinking you're done, but you're not."

@narcoswing | 10 | "I love the mellow mood of the whole song, and the slight aggressiveness in Lana's vocals in the choruses create such a n ice contrast. Sometimes while listening to Cruel World it feels a bit too long, but as a whole, in this album, it's the perfect length."

@slayo | 9.5 | "This song is the perfect opener for this perfect album. Am I the only one that thinks of this song as a “Cola Pt. 2”? The chorus slowly builds up and then tumbles down (in a good way). Favorite part is Lana’s harmonies at the very end. Also love the guitars on this track."

@IndieKylie | 9 | "A beautiful opening track that embodies the best of the dream-pop genre. Only complaint is that the run time is a little long."

@Gia Gunn | 9 | "I mean, it wouldn't be Ultraviolence without this great album opener."

@halcyonpop | 8.6 | "This is a perfect album opener. Lana can say the word "crazy" as many times as she wants and I'll still love it."

@sethrb101 | 8.5 | "The first time I listened to this song, I thought it was way too long and I wasn't feeling it. Now I love it and the vibes I get."

@musicland | | "I feel like Lana and Gaga have the best album openers. I remember blasting this in the Target parking lot when I got the cd, and everyone walking past looking at me like I was crazy (but i am free.)"

@littlepotter | | "For the longest time I thought this song was truly pointless and just a hippie record that drags on for way too long and for absolutely no reason. The instrumentation is too weird and messy. I didn't start appreciating it until recently, but still in my head I have no idea how it's 7 minutes long. It doesn't have that many parts. Wtf."

@ChavaWM | | "if it was shorter, it would be higher."

@SinnersVenus | 7 | "It sounds pleasant, but drags on for too long. The chorus is still banging tho."

@Moebius | 7 | "It's good, but I kinda forget how it goes tbh."

@BLACKOUTbritney | 7 | "Moving and sad opening song. Very slow tho so its one of the songs on the album you listen to less than the others."

@britneygaga99 | | "Mediocre album opener, it drags on quite a lot."

@Lona Delery | | "Great album opener, I like how the song gets messier and messier. This was the song that made me a stan, but I find it too repetitive now to listen to it a lot."

@juju | 5.5 | "Kind of a wet blanket of an opener; the saving grace of it is the folksy-stomp of an instrumental, and some of the lyrics are passable (other than her typical "young, wild, free" bullshit). All in all, it's much too long as well."

@Maleficent | 9 | "strong nostalgia from this song."

Antonio's Remark | 9

It's a nice track, but imo fades into the background. I don't have a clue how this made the top 2, not to talk about how this was winning until I got @Vodka's and @sipthistea's submissions at the last minute, I'm just glad it didn't end up winning!

@juju | 11 | "Finally! A song that excels at the supposed vibe of this album; it's got the lo-fi Americana garage aesthetic down to a science, and her voice soars along the reverb with precision, unlike the previous songs where she struggled to find her footing. Not only that, but it features one of my favorite Lana lyrics: "They judge me like a picture book, by the colors like they forgot to read."

@Versus | 11 | "my fav lana song ever , made me cry the first time i listened to it and still to this day has me looking for a boy that can play guitar."

@ItsTommyBitch | 11 | "This is one of Lana's cleverest songs melodically, lyrically, stylistically, aesthetically (even though there's no video #JusticeForBrooklynBaby  and definitely my most played of her whole discography  The soft rock vibe, the amazingly sardonic but light sarcasm, her use of echoes and reverb while still sounding raw, the production is immaculate. For such a "bop" by Lana's standards, the verses are some of her most beautiful melodically. This entire album stretched Lana's ability to use her voice as an emotive tool; she sings more freely and expressively and uses conversational tones at times as well, and she uses a wide range. The way she almost has a drawl at times while talking about doing hydroponic weed (that real hipster ****) and being a true Brooklyn Baby too is a great effect. This is also her best use of the pseudo-scatting cooing in her discography imo. I could talk about this forever, but its a perfect song."

@sethrb101 | 11 | "LOVE LOVE LOVE. The chorus is perfection, and the rest of the song is pretty great, too, I'd say."

@SirLudicopro | 11 | "My personal favorite from this mind-blowing album and one of my favorite songs of all time. First of all, along with Florida Kilos, this is probably the happiest sounding song on the record, which is a nice change of pace. Also, Lana sounds like an angel descended straight from heaven throughout the whole track. I do not know what it is about this song that makes me like it so much. The verses are somewhat tame and calm while featuring lyrics that are satirical and yet so dreamy. The pre-choruses, while very short, are chill-inducing and truly magical sounding. And then the chorus kicks in. One of the best choruses I've ever heard. It really is a special moment. It's so sweet and comforting when I'm in a good mood, and yet it makes me bawl if I'm already in a sad mood. Then, the way the bridge ends and transitions into the final chorus is just so perfect it's crazy. Finally, in the last bit of the last chorus, a man's voice joins Lana and it really creates an out of this world experience for me, it's just indescribable. Sorry for fangirling so much, I just think this track is flawless and really special."

@Queen1551 | 11 | "A SONG!"

@Evan Peters | 11 | "i take back what i said about shades of cool and apply it to this song instead. this song makes me feel nostalgic about the days i never spent being in love, riding around in nyc, and smoking hydroponic weed."

@musicland | 11 | "BB has easily become one of my favorite Lana songs. It is cheeky, sexy, and hypnotic; all things that make up Lana."

@Lona Delery | 11 | "God, I love this song. Since I have first heard this one on New Year's Eve 2014. The dreamy vocals and breathtaking vocals, especially in the pre-chorus are Lana at her best. This song makes me feel like I'm flying."

@halcyonpop | 10 | "The definition of a summer anthem. The happiness of this song is such a beautiful contrast to the rest of the album."

@IndieKylie | 10 | "In my opinion, this is one of her signature songs. The beautiful acoustic guitars, light vocals all help make this song a bright spot in an overall dark (thematically) album."

@Moebius | 10 | "Always stood out from the rest of the album, and in the best way possible. broke my hip first time i listened to it."

@SinnersVenus | 10 | "It sounds sooooooo good, and her voice on this is flawless. There’s not much more to say about this song, it’s just amazing, and that’s about it. 11-worthy, honestly."

@Harry | 9 | "There's an intimacy about this song that I love and it feels quintessential of Lana's entire aesthetic."

@BLACKOUTbritney | 9 | "Cutest song. Lyrics can be kinda cringe but the production and vocals are beautiful."

@Vodka | 9 | "Gives me indie summer girl vibes. She's cooler than her boyfriend who's in the band."

@littlepotter | 8.5 | "I'm just realizing how much memories I have with this album... I remember hearing it first as I was studying for my official exams. I remember liking it way more than Shades of Cool. Now they're reversed, but both are amazing songs. The bridge on this one is beautiful."

@slayo | 8.5 | "Really gives me the feels for my imaginary NYC biker boyfriend. I love it."

@britneygaga99 | | "The chorus is gold, the verses are kinda boring. Cool bridge."

@Maleficent | | "good, but too similar to SoC, in my opinion."

@Trepadation | | "amazing bridge."

@Gia Gunn | | "Back in 2014 I thought this was THE best song on this record, but looking back on it... I just don't see it? I don't even like it that much now to be honest."

@AJK273 | 7 | "The song is catchy and has a really great f*** off attitude that I like, its really the definition of a cool kids song. However, the instrumentation is boring and the beat doesn't help Lana emulate what she is saying lyrically. There could have been a bigger instrumental to help the song but it is a catchy song that doesn't really do anything really unforgivable. A good bop."

Antonio's Remark 10

There's light at the end of the tunnel! West Coast won! SO this track was indeed winning in the beginning until Brooklyn Baby took over, and the last 3 submissions helped West Coast take the lead again, I'm so happy it won honestly, such a brilliant track.

@Harry11 | "One of my fav songs ever, period. Of any artist. The production and arrangement are world class. The tempo changes are genius, the vocals are mesmerising. Everything about this is spectacular."

@BLACKOUTbritney | 11 | "ICONIC surf rock song. Easily the best song of 2014 and Lana's best song. The production, her soft sexual vocals! The sirens! IM IN LOVE."

@Vodka | 11 | "The production, the chorus that key change. Those wispy vocals, and that one part by the end of the song with that sound of synthesizer waves."

@Thomas | 11 | "When we first heard this track, through LQ live videos from Coachella, no ones wig stayed on. Wether it was because of how f*cking good the song is or how dramatic the change from her previous album was - no one could shut up about it. When I first heard the studio version I truly felt a rush, like a natural high, beaming through my body during the chorus. This song still enchants me with how perfect the chorus' vocals harmonize with the west coast guitars. And the hip hop lead synth (which is obnoxiously loud and perfectly so) is such a great detail for a track called West Coast. What an amazing allusion to the real west coast."

@juju | 10 | "This song encapsulates Lana's desired aesthetic extremely well. I love the whisper in her voice during the verses, and then the way it transcends during the chorus. It's heaven, definitely a highlight of the entire album."

@SinnersVenus | 10 | "I love West Coast the West Most, to the point where I West Boast about it to West Ghosts. No, but honestly, this is my fav, even though I gave it a 10. I really have 2 faves which trade between the #1 position, but at this point in time, West Coast isn’t in that place, but if I could, I would give 2 #11s to the two of these."

@halcyonpop | 10 | "Lana DELIVERS once again on this lead single. If you haven't heard the radio edit, I HIGHLY recommend it."

@SirLudicopro | 10 | "West Coast has an insane production. It has so many intricate layers that all mix together to make this pop-rock-alternative masterpiece of a song. I just like how the pre-chorus seems to build up into this epic chorus, and yet we get a totally unexpected turn of events and the chorus is this sweet and slow head-swaying piece that is completely different from the rest of the song. The instrumental reflect the atmosphere given by the lyrics and the song title, as it gives off a very beach-like vibe. This was also the best possible choice for the lead single as it is one of the most bop-like songs on the album and is nowhere near as depressing and intimidating as most of the other songs in here. Finally, it has crazy replay value because you can almost hear something new in the instrumental every time you listen to it."

@narcoswing | 10 | "It's a perfect summer bop, and still her best lead single and a highlight of this album. Love the synth in the background in the last chorus."

@ItsTommyBitch | 10 | "If I could give another song an 11, this would be it. Her best lead single, and one of her most meticulously crafted works of art. The tempo change, the quotes, the lyrics, the atmosphere, the guitar, the instrumental at the last chorus  It's pure sex, but also feels like spinning around and never stopping but never getting dizzy. The audio video was perfect tbh."

@IndieKylie | 10 | "What an epic lead single. The instrumental set-up and production are perfect here."

@Trepadation | 10 | "amazing transitions."

@musicland | 10 | "I will be in my car alone, and this song comes on shuffle and I literally start screaming. The way it opens with the drums, her high notes, everything about this song gives me heat flashes."

@Maleficent | 10 | "that shift at the chorus is pure heaven."

@littlepotter | 9.5 | "My first Lana single release as a stan! Me and my friends had it as our statuses for months. I remember watching the youtube video of her swirling on the beach in a continuous loop and reading comments about how people didn't realize it was looped. Good times. Honestly this song has one of the most interesting beat progressions and DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THE RADIO EDIT. IT'S A BLESSING TO ALL EARS and thus deserve the extra .5"

@Gia Gunn | 9.25 | "Waaaay better than I remembered, my flop ass was definetely not here for this in 2014."

@Lona Delery | 9 | "Love this song as well, but it took me some time to get into it. I have always loved the radio mix, though. Whenever I listen to it, I have the urge to smoke."

@sethrb101 | 8.2 | "This is another solid 8 for me, but I have to give it even more credit because of the tempo change. Soooo good."

@Evan Peters | | "it took a while for me to get into this song, but now i adore it."

@AJK273 | | "This song is really well put together, with a great drop and structure that Lana's vocals do well to emulate. The song does suffer however from some of the elements getting washer over by the mixing, the sound is in some points to dreary. But it is a great song that always finds me twirling and dancing and swaying. It is hot."

@Moebius | 8 | "I love it because it's more upbeat, and it works too."

@slayo | 8 | " I feel like this shouldn’t have been the lead single, but it’s still a cute bop. Not as good as some of the other tracks before this one though."

@FlyPirate | | "Could be better, a bit random compared to other songs."
