"At a time when people are frustrated with Wall Street and their power, I think it is unfortunate he is doing this."

Elizabeth Warren was also upset.

Obama was the one who criticized Wall Street his entire presidency, speech after speech, and now he is doing paid private speeches? Hypocrite much?

And btw, I do like a lot of what Obama did, I liked the guy, but I report news and hypocrisy.

Can't say I'm surprised at Obama doing this.

I'll leave it at that.

Bernie didn't "destroy" anything let's get that straight. Anyways, if any of you were in Obama's shoes are you really telling me you would decline the money?

Unless I'm missing something Obama's speech is what he wants to say. Nobody on Wall Street is telling him what to say.

American leftists always forgive Obama because he is the first black president. He is quite messy a lot of the time and this is one of those times.

Yes, I'd decline the money. It looks bad for the party when elitists are paying for hundreds of thousands of dollars to speak. If you're trying to get the working class back on ur side as a party, it doesn't help when one of your most well known members does something like this.

I don't understand what the issue is? Obama is no longer president, he's not in any position of power, so why shouldn't he be able to do paid, private speeches?  It's not like they can lobby him for anything.

I think Bernie spends way too much time attacking people on the left. Obama getting paid to do some speeches out of office, meanwhile Trump is literally trying to pass an unfunded $2 TRILLION tax cut on the rich. He shouldn't even be talking about Obama right now.

Also, FWIW, pretty much every recent president, Republicans and Democrats, have done paid speeches when they left office. It's not like this is unprecedented or unheard of.

This is how x Presidents make money. All of them have done so in the modern era. Obama is no different.

Bernie is one of the worst people to happen to modern politics that isn't a republican.

I have to agree with you on that. He is so out of touch on reality and his ideas are so stupid. I am so glad he will never be president

I'm surprised that he managed to command such a huge sum in comparison to bill and bush.

he worked hard for the past 8 years, time to reap the fruits of his labour tbh

The working class just voted a ****ing billionaire that was born with a silver spoon in his mouth into office...one that lives in gold towers and plays golf three days a week. Why would it matter if Obama ends up being a millionaire? Like most past Presidents, he will give speeches, write a book, open a library, start a charity, and live a good life.
