i hadn't seen this video before but oh my it had the potential to be incredible.

It isn't "rapey" and it has just that pinch of controversy which makes gaga who she is as an artist, and so i think this hit got away because of poor promotion and i'll forever be pissed about it. this video could have been the key to success for this impeccable piece of music...

we can dream, monsters... we can dream,

Literally has a convicted rapist sedate Gaga so he can **** her but if that's just a pinch of controversy for the extra streams that makes it ok sis

wtf

1. let's not confuse R.Kelly in real life, with a character he plays in the video...

2. While there may be a sensual feel to their acting, this video by no means is saying that he's sedating gaga for sex...

3. she (like every artist) needs a hit to stay relevant, which is important for longevity down the line. This song could have given her that. Maybe we wouldn't be where we are today if that song became huge.

4. i adore dua lipa

All the leaks in a chronological order of how the music video would have looked. The bleeps represent missing parts.

I've never seen this before but...it actually looked like a really good video once you piece together the bits of the video that go with the song. Apart from the weird opening sexual scene this video would have smashed.

If swallowing a cross/rosary, being vomitted on live, or wearing a dress of rotting meat didn't destroy her career, I don't think R Kelly and his dancing lobsters would have either.

I just don't feel comfortable with the idea of the plot and it's worsened by including R Kelly in the project. The visuals look great but I think it was scrapped for a reason :emma:

i also adore Dua tho :golfclap:

God Control

I wish this music video was released. It wouldn't have ended Gaga's career. No music video can end any artist's career. It's an insult to an artist to say that, because that means their career is hinging on just one music video, and that her career is so fragile that one music video can end her, which isn't true. Her career started faltering BECAUSE OF not releasing this music video.

And please, let's stop mixing music and art with the person lives of singers and performers. Whether a singer is involved in a lawsuit, rightfully or wrongfully, or said and done anything that is wrong or right, it isn't gonna make their music sound better or worse.

If Gaga suddenly was revealed to be racist or homophonic for example, will that make Bad Romance any less appealing? no.

yeah i agree, having R Kelly in it can be... somewhat deceiving. The reason for scrapping is unclear, but i believe it was something with the management...

at least we both agree that dua is good lol

Not sticking up for him, but R Kelly was not convicted, he was acquitted. Just stating the facts. "Convicted" isn't an adjective to through around when many other valid criticisms will do.

What happened to that insider trader who allegedly had the DWUW video?

talked with her but i think doesn't have the video... I request a HQ screenshot of 2014 snapchat leaks and he reject... One person told me (an exchange specialist) that Gaga materials do not much time for exchange, because they leak soon ... if the video was in negotiation already would have leaked.

I'm glad this never saw the light of day. Her career was hanging by a thread and the publicity from this could've been disastrous (not ruin her career but maybe certify her fad status). All this song needed was to be a solo version and have a nice video and it would've saved the era. But this is in the past now.. let's move on.

Here go all my hopes.

The cross was barely controversial at all, like please. But Gaga being sedated in a hospital scene by someone whose had sexual charges brought against him and then having her body played with and straddled while she's out cold....I'm sorry but that's creepy and I have a high tolerance for heavy topics. She could probably have recovered from it but she would've taken a huge hit image/credibility wise. I completely get what she's saying about her body and the way the media treats her in the song but that hospital scene wouldn't have gone over well at all.

I think it would've been fine with just the newspaper scenes, minus the part where she's getting railed from behind.

I would have LIVED for all the controversy this would have caused. She should have released it. I still can't believe she censored herself. Madonna's career was scandal after scandal for years and that, too, contributed to making her this larger-than-life personality who went on to become a ****ing legend. I wish Gaga had never stopped being controversial. The public needs to be pushed, provoked, irritated, pleased, all of it, not just pleasantly surprised.

This would have got millions and millions of views, the song would have charted better because of it and her name would have been in the news again.

It might not have ended her career but she would've taken a huge hit regardless. I get the artistic intent behind it but having someone accused of rape starring in it and having the director Terry Richardson behind the camera when he has dozens of models accusing him of creepy, rape-like behavior just sank the video. Feminists and rape survivors would've turned on her quickly, despite artistic intent, and would've drowned out any supporters of the video who have been victims in the past.

Not to freak people out but a lot of rape situations often occur when someone is sedated on an operating table. I worked for a surgeon once who said that medical staff will openly look at and critique patient's bodies while they're knocked out on the table, and that's just a simple comment. I can't imagine what else people have done to others while they're sedated, including grabbing body parts and worse. I'm glad she didn't release it. She could've salvaged it with just the newspaper scenes but the hospital scene would've been too much.
