It only scored 67% on metacritic, it's not that successful

You do know Bey had a much better critical response with lemonade than Adele with 25 and still lost right? :sharon:

Btw Selena Gomez's Revival has a higher Metacritic score (74) (Adele is at 75) than Joanne or ARTPOP and we all know how that album doesn't stand a chance against Joanne if they were eligible in the same year.

Do we really consider Revival as almost equivalent to 25 because they have similar Metacritic scores?

It's possible but I'm not too sure it will get a nomination for AOTY. I could see it winning another category though.

The good sis Millions Reasons has great potential though.

Agreed. Million Reasons looks really grown  for a once pop tart. It's a sort of classic written song, so Gaga may win for this song , single.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

ApplauseftAdele

Definitely a CHANCE. But I wouldnt say it's super likely mainly BC Joanne wasn't particularly groundbreaking, and TBH a lot of the songs on the album dont feel as passionate as the songs on Born This Way, even ARTPOP. Maybe its because shes straying into different styles but.. Just my opinion tho

I know it's not the be all and end all, dw. My main point was that when you listen to Joanne it just doesn't pack the punch other Gaga albums do, I dunno if that's just for me but it feels lacking in direction and cohesiveness.

I mean Joanne isn't necessarily her best work, but since the big threats Beyonce and Adele isn't gonna release any album this year, and also Taylor Swift will be releasing hers on 2018, Do you think the Grammys will be captivated by the whole Personal/Raw theme of her album and will score that grand prize?

Stopped reading right there LOL :nails:

Respect your opinion tho.

No lies detected in her response. I like Joanne, it's just not her best work. :sure:

it's time for an indie album and a guy ( or a group) to win AOTY so nomination- may be but it's not likely to win.

67% is an above average score. Actually there are many other ways to determine if an album is critically successful other than Metacritic.

So many of the reviews were insubstantial and biased. Many didn't like the album simply because it came from Lady Gaga. They didn't expect her to ditch electropop and change musical direction with Joanne so they called it "boring". If you slapped Beck's name on the front cover I bet critics would eat it up.

Million Reasons will definitely get nominated for SOTY, and Joanne, despite not being Gaga's most groundbreaking album or whatever, is still the best pop album released in the last year. It's radically different from Gaga's previous releases, yet it sounds timeless. I will be surprised and disgusted if it doesn't get nominate for AOTY.

It MIGHT get nominated.

The more I've listened to it, the more I wish it would have just been an EP. The first half of the album is solid but after Million Reasons it just seems like a WTF moment.

I don't think I've listened to Come to Mama, Hey Girl, or Angel Down for the past couple months. Not that they are bad on their own but the way they are placed in the album just makes me skip back to the beginning.

Currently listening to Joanne

And Bey got nominated for I Am and that got much worse reviews than any Gaga album @LG

I'd like it to get a nod.

I like Joanne but it's not that groundbreaking imo, it kinda went under the radar really considering its a Gaga album. If it were for effort then definitely but yeah the finished product doesn't seem AoTY worthy to me. :oprah:

MR deserves some attention too.
