We're talking about the same record label who have switched the second singles due to overwhelming iTunes performances with two album eras in a row. The Cure is here to stay.

Said this in the charts thread.. According to Billboard, she went from being an irrelevant legacy act to dominating the Super Bowl to setting vocal trends with Million Reasons, which somehow led to a needed career course correction with The Cure.

Seems like a logical flow of events.

Also, Billboard should instead write articles like this about men so they can hide their blatant sexism.

Having Chainsmokers cover their magazine, while saying ridiculously sexist things that they went on to publish. They write like this about women all of the time, but you don't see Justin Bieber or Drake being ripped for random releases every other day and new sounds by the hour.

"It also means that Gaga followed up that era with a single that fits in precisely with modern pop trends, from the Weeknd’s rhythmic gloom to the Chainsmokers’ downtempo EDM to the dancehall influence that everyone from Drake to Maroon 5 has recently absorbed"

... And that Gaga already recorded like 6 years before everybody else. "So happy I could Die", anyone? Bye BB.

Whoooaa basically she just wrote this type of song just now? She just released this particular genre because you talk about Gaga "absorbed" all those Singers you mention to make her relevant again? Thats what youre trying to say? Kiss my ass, Billboard. Where have you been? Listen to her entire discography then!

So irritating when see Chainsmokers' name in one sentence with our Queen. Billboard, of course its not a single!! Its just a buzz random song!! You happy now? :grr:

And I wonder It wasnt Love It wasnt Love

Gaga’s semi-impromptu Coachella performance (she was filling in for pregnant “Telephone” pal Beyonce)

Of course, Beyonce is mentioned.

It's a bit rich for Billboard, of all publications, to suggest that making commercial music is a bad thing. They seem to be all over anyone else who does it. If it sounds like a hit, they'll praise it. So, to suggest that Gaga is selling herself short by conforming to their tastes is just so typical of the media that is still trying to be anti-Gaga, even when the public is sending the message that that ship has sailed.

Good point. They praise men for being innovative even when their music is totally generic, a remake of their last few singles or a combination of every trend going. They praise men for being courageous enough to take a risk when they release a surprise single/album out of the blue even though that's been the trend among a huge number of artists ever since Beyonce kicked it off in 2013. They generally have positive, high expectations of men in their articles, rarely ever planting a seed of doubt.

I am honestly sick of seeing male artists get blindly, mindlessly praised every time they release something new, rarely pointing out faults. But when a woman makes music, she's under a microscope, small slights are searched for, some level of negativity has to be present and she certainly doesn't get away with putting out a single that sounds like her last biggest hit. Just ask Ariana Grande about the Focus misfire.

since it could forge one two paths for Gaga. If the song is a hit -- which it very well could be, based on the song spending much of the past few days atop the iTunes chart -- then she could feel compelled to continue exploring its synthesized uplift in her next batch of material

Then I want it to flop. Yeah call me "fake fan" or something like that but I'm not here for a Lady Gaga that is similar to other major mainstream pop artists. She did not reach the top by following trends, but by setting and establishing trends.

I know that she is not a fan of this direction and single either. I think she compromised to have a hit song and to build momentum, but that is one of the most inauthentic versions of Gaga I have witnessed so far.

I will always love her though, so let's see what the future will bring :)

From what all people in the world, I expected Billboard to know what is a single :awkney:

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Wasn't ARTPOP her following the EDM (Dubstep) trend?
