Trump attacks Canadian Dairy Farmers

Apparently, Canadians like myself have to drink American milk or else it's unfair that we buy locally :rip:

The president specifically mentioned Canada's dairy supply management system, which he called a "one-sided deal" that doesn't let U.S. farmers compete fairly.

Canada recently changed its policies on ultra-filtered milk, a protein liquid concentrate used to make cheese, to favour domestic suppliers over U.S. producers. It had been duty-free since the 1994 NAFTA agreement, but the government changed the rules after dairy farmers in Ontario complained about prices.

About 70 dairy producers in both Wisconsin and New York are affected by the new rules, and have lobbied the U.S. government for action on the file.

"We're ... going to stand up for our dairy farmers in Wisconsin," Trump said.

Margaret Peters-Morris, who operates Glengarry Fine Cheese in Lancaster, Ont., said Trump likely took aim at Canadian dairy because he was in Wisconsin.

"He's probably under pressure to say something to the farmers. It's all about populism, so some of it might be rhetoric, some of it isn't," she told CBC News. :air:

I understand the competition that farmers go through with the new policies, but I think it's fine by me. Canadians are very strict with milk and our policies are something that Americans can't do. All milk from Canada, regardless if it’s organic or regular, does not contain any steroids, growth hormones, or antibiotics. If Trump wants to help his farmers, either go by our policies or sell within America more.

Canadian Dairy Farmers are the worst. Where is the travel ban against them. They are pure evil. Canadian Milk is a disgrace.:poot:

Maybe Trump should follow suit and have his companies manufacture his own products in the USA. :reductive:

Where can I buy Canadian milk?  I spend way too much on U.S. organic. I think I'm too far south in Florida.

Lord knows you can't drink the regular milk in the U.S. or regular eggs for that matter. It's legal poison.

Also isn't this hypocrisy because if the whole Mexican Avacados mess.

Canada is doing the right thing. You should always try to buy produce and dairy locally. Better for your economy.

It's actually quite sad that he's attacking our dairy farmers instead of focusing on real-world issues :oprah:

TBH, I would rather buy from the country that has higher standards. Also, I don't think this is about the Canadian government imposing a tax on American milk just to stop it's people from buying American. This is because the standards for American milk are so low that it is much more inexpensive to produce and therefore can be sold for much cheaper in Canada. At this point this is about making everything same price, so the Canadian milk can be as competitive in the market as American milk. I assume this is not about making American milk 10 dollars a gallon while making Canadian milk 5 dollars a gallon.

Unlike what Trump wants to do with anything imported to the US with his stupid Trump Import Tax.

Someone send me a list of Canadian dairy products. Suddenly I feel like purchasing some.

I haven't drank cow milk in months anyway. I drink soy milk now.

I'm trying to drink milk from plant products but I haven't found something I liked yet. I tried coconut and almond before, and I picked the original flavour to avoid added sugar and such. But I don't like either of them :awkney:

Here's hoping there's something I will like.

Yeah I didn't like coconut and almond much either. I loved soy milk though so I stuck with it!

Soy milk is the best.
