No. She didn't even plan the singles for Joanne. Remember the MR/A-YO situation?

She didn't even choose Perfect Illusion as the first single. Her label did.

No. No. Joanne's marketing strategy failed, simple as that. The Cure is the trendy song that had to happen.

She had her career planned until the end of Born This Way, from then on nothing was really planned out. She just went with whatever happened. ARTPOP started fine, she had "something" planned out, but then Troy left, she was given more control (supposedly) and long-term plans ceased to exist.

Born This Way era was pretty messy too even. Switching from Judas to TEOG and rushing out a video for TEOG seems comparable to ARTPOP and Joanne confusion.

I thought BTW era was going to have one more single too, but they seemed to pull the plug when MTN flopped/she was overexposed.

Her strategy to be more liked/respected by the GP seems to be working this era. She seems to be in a positive place with the GP, which I couldn't say about the late BTW/ARTPOP eras.

Hopefully The Cure can give her a nice worldwide hit. It'll be good for her to play it on the JWT in places where MR didn't make an impact.

The OP's theory could actually work.

Had A-YO been the second single, it would've had a similar storyline as MR. Just look at the Apple Music ad which was recorded in the same space as the MR music video.

Gaga would still start in the desert and end in the studio. In fact, it would make even more sense that after declaring it was a "Perfect Illusion" Gaga would sing a "don't give a f***" kind of song (A-YO) to ultimately end with the return of CrazyGa in John Wayne.

Plus Gaga has been known to keep the same concepts and looks even if it's for another single. She created looks for Scheisse but used them for Judas instead just like she did with using TEOG looks in the Y&I music video. Gaga can easily adapt (except for the ARTPOP era).

Yep, pretty sure most of the MR music video was part of the A-Yo concept (such as the guitar scenes)

Wait. WHAT?! :duck:

I know about TEOG/Y&I. But what looks from Judas were for Scheiße?

Judas and Scheiße are two of my top favorites on BTW! For some reason I always thought that a music video for Scheiße would feel like Judas.

When she released the commercial for FAME she said that she planned on releasing Scheisse as the second single but her label decided it was better to choose Judas. Fans started speculating that the whole aesthetic for the Judas era was made to fit Scheisse. And honestly it totally fits it with the teal hair and the kind of army costumes.

I'm sure they had plans to release A-YO, but after they saw the success of MR, they switched

Still kind of pressed about it :icega:

I have a feeling she wanted A-YO, Million Reasons and John Wayne as the singles as they are the songs she tends to sing from the album.

When Perfect Illusion was released she kinda didn't seem into it and was kinda disconnected from talking about it in interviews.

She has stated before that Interscope picks the singles. The videos and performances are all her though. It's no coincidence she's chosen to leave out Perfect Illusion in better promotional spots (VS/Coachella she did John Wayne and has nearly always done AYO/MR)

No, I think she just realised Joanne was dead in the water after PI and MR underperformed (at first). She probably made the JW video as a treat for the fans as she knew there wouldn't be a third single from the album. That's why she went back into the studio around New Year.

The ironic thing is, MR suddenly revived around the Super Bowl and there was a huge resurgence in her popularity. I think her Google searches were the highest in her career (correct me if I'm wrong). So she probably could have released a third single and had fairly moderate success. But I'm happy with The Cure, it's a great song.

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

Her google searches worldwide were her highest in a few years, but not all time

But in the US, (if I read it correctly) they were the highest since May 2011

Yes ARTPOP flopping was too. It's all planned

its all method acting

THE COUNTESS IS SHOOK

she wanted ARTPOP to flop because she was mad at interscope for messing her songs up and controlling her, then troy was pushing her so hard she even did dope to spite them.

she wanted Aura as the lead and interscope wanted applause so she leaked it, then she wanted to do a shocking performance at the vmas but mtv didnt let her because was mileys night and so and so on.

WTF is MDNA

So was it already planned out? What do you think?

omg yes and maybe ARTPOP was all about her decay because she wanted to just pretend she didn't know what she was doing to then come out with Joanne and slay us!

Next album will be called The Fame Kingdom you guys!
