LilVenusian 579
When I first heard it ngl i really didnt like The Cure. Now after the initial shock i'm really beginning to warm up to it and no, its not an iconic signature gaga track but I think its soooo refreshing to hear her do something so simple and modern. Its also clearly a much more catchier and pleasant track than Perfect Illusion that the GP will love. And she didnt really 'sell out". If anything shes just returning to the vocal style and poppier roots of her earlier music, which is what made us fall in love with her in the first place. Not every gaga track has to be a reverse warhol expedition. Just think of it as an "Eh Eh" or "Nothin on But The Radio" type fluffy pop track that you shouldn't take so seriously. I think we've just gotten so used to her pretentiousness with the last few albums that we too have become pretentious messy little monsters Like this track could have easily been on TF/TFM and ya'll wouldnt be busting a tit at all
HighwayFantasy 2,015
Haha so true! I love The Cure! Its blasting through my speakers all day long, that angel-voice echo effect during "so baby tell me yes" is so brilliant!
Bear 7,515
Exactly, I think we've been fed so much depth and meaning with every song and album for a while that some people have forgotten that it's ok for pop to be just fun and care-free too. OMonster 14,675
Honestly, you're so right here. Sometimes music can be... you know... just fun, light-hearted music. To confine Gaga to a more complex, 'pretentious' style isn't fair at all - and nor is it reflective of who she is, wholeheartedly, as an artist. Yes, she does like to experiment and shock and push the envelope. But as you so rightly point out, this is also the girl who lives for pop bops, too. In Gaga's own words: POP MUSIC WILL NEVER BE LOW BROW. Spoiler And 'The Cure' is really not low brow. It's literally about how her fans have saved her. When you take into account the mental health issues she has been so vocal about recently, it's actually a very deep and personal song. It's about being positive... not dark. And that's okay! subtext / fantasy
Benji 20,113
Not gonna lie, Gaga is at her best when she makes strict pop music like The Cure. I like her doing a bit of exploring on her albums but she shines when she makes what a lot of people here call "basic" music.
Jaume 1,282
I agree 100%. moreover I'm always impressed how versatile her voice is... here is so sweet and soft, I love it

You are so true. MAJORITY of the people that hate the song on GGD hates it because it's fun, care-free and catchy just like any good pop song. I haven't seen one who said they hated the melody of the song. They just hated the idea of Gaga following a trend which they pride themselves for so long she would never ever do. Rhiannon 1,520
It's just that I love Gaga for her experimenting sounds and lyrics. These kind of "generic" pop songs aren't my thing (even tho the song makes me wanna dance and shake my head). But if y'all enjoy it, then that's great. It just feels to me like she wants a succesfull hit. I don't feel Gaga in this song, not even FameGa. R.

Prada 1,200
I totally agree with everything you say.Its not a signature Gaga style song but she can try this style and have fun. The most important thing is; Gaga is a songwriter. As any writer-author you can't expect her to put masterpieces everytime. You can't expect J.K.Rowling to put Harry Potter level novel again.Actually you should be happy that she is writing.Because %99 of the artist have depression because they know they will never have that unique idea again.Ideas are rare and right now Gaga is using other people's help, art as any singer can do.Having producers, writers and she also helps them too.IT'S NOT A WRONG THING.ACTUALLY IT'S HEALTHY.That's what Madonna,Beyonce,Rihanna or any of them do since the start of their carrer. Also Gaga is so bussy with acting, tours, everything I really don't understand how you can expect her to get spiritual and get her core to create again. This fanbase will never be happy.Gaga has a discography you can listen whole year. She tries new stuff.and she's still working.Try to see things in different perspectives. Pop music is literally the result of evolved music taste. The ultimate combination of taste to create something that appeals to the largest audience possible. It's not basic at all. It's very calculated and has a long, rich history.
DeanWinchester 41,390
Personally, no. I really do like differennt genres so I genuinely enjoyed ARTPOP and Joanne. What I will admit is that I did miss her pure pop style only because she hasn't done it in a while and not because I forced myself to be pretentious like her Flyin' like a 1000 Doves
