As a straight Republican, I find this so so sad. It's disheartening knowing that some people can't marry the person they love cause they're the same gender.  I just hope that someday people will understand and legalize same sex marriages all around. You can't help who you fall in love with. Hang in here monsters.

Because it plainly is!  You said earlier that someone like Trump could come in and abuse(executive orders) too & all I am saying is, what abuse?  Every president does executive orders, but when Obama started doing them.  Then all of a sudden he's was "Imperial President"...  🙄

 Well, you're putting words in my mouth. For the record, I agreed with Obama's EOs on immigration. But using EOs to further policies sets precedent and now Trump used EOs to reverse immigration policies and put in place more oppressive ones. Content of the Executive Orders is relevant and not at all 'deflection'. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, EOs typically were not used for advancing policy, which is what Obama and Trump are doing. If you can find a graph those charts the use of these orders to further major policy, then you'll have a point. I was simply clarifying this had nothing to do with the number passed.

So your trying to say that all the previous presidents who used them were not trying to further policies??

You do realize executive orders are typically used to pass holidays, budgets, etc? 

To pass policy presidents typically work with congress.

Regardless, @En_Sabah_Nur, this wasn't a slam on Obama. This conversation started in defense of sanctuary cities against Trump's executive orders. I think this has been expanded to be something it isn't. I was critical of certain EOs passed, which does not reflect on my opinion of Obama as a president in whole. I think he was great and his leadership is sorely missed.
