They hate the idea of someone receiving something. Never mind all the handouts older people get from the taxpayer. You also see it when people have this horrible attitude toward people using the social safety net. They're so hateful to people that need help. That's what I don't like. Notice these people don't complain about the defense budget being massive even tho it takes a lot of their tax dollars? That's partially because they're obscenely paranoid but also because they don't see that as a hand out. The fact it's not seen as a hand out makes them feel better about it. That's a pretty typical reaction. Not everyone goes to college and many have sacrificed greatly to go themselves or send their kids. It is a natural reaction to be upset that in essence, you are now being charged for what you already paid for. Older people, younger people, actually anyone with health insurance, in fact everyone is a receiver of the social safety net. You can't get all worked up about it. People, as a whole, don't understand how the process works. And there are plenty of people who don't want to be taxed for increases in the military, while hurting services to citizens. These "old people" weren't happy about repealing Obamacare or the cuts to many social programs. People who are younger care about those safety nets, as well, as they would end up having to take care of older parents financially if the government takes away funding. Everything isn't black or white. Everyone isn't represented by a few comments you read on sites of on social media. The majority of people just want to keep as much of their earned money as possible.
