North Korea missiles: US warships deployed to Korean peninsula

The US military has ordered a navy strike group to move towards the Korean peninsula, amid growing concerns about North Korea's missile programme. 

The Carl Vinson Strike Group comprises an aircraft carrier and other warships. 

US Pacific Command described the deployment - now heading towards the western Pacific - as a prudent measure to maintain readiness in the region. 

President Trump has said the US is prepared to act alone to deal with the nuclear threat from North Korea. 

"The number one threat in the region continues to be North Korea, due to its reckless, irresponsible and destabilising programme of missile tests and pursuit of a nuclear weapons capability," US Pacific Command spokesman Dave Benham said.

Even if it wasn't a full scale WWIII, it'd still be likely that nuclear weapons would be used and that's terrifying.

Let's just calm down. I don't think anyone is happy about war. If trump actually tries to hurt the civilians than I will be mad. But he has shown no intentions of doing so and let's hope that if it were to happen it would only be a last resort.

What is worrying is that North Korea actually has citizens in it's country and so just 'blowing it up' in a second would be catastrophic and lead to the loss of so many human lives. The other worry is that North Korea has nuclear weapons that could hit South Korea or Japan. If they feel they are in imminent threat they may very well strike those countries.

In terms of war, it's not North Korea but China that the U.S need to worry about - The last thing China wants is a destabilized North Korea that leads to a rush of millions of impoverished, uneducated North Korean immigrants rushing past their border and destabilizing their country... That's part of the reason why China has somewhat allied itself with North Korea (With the other reasons being, they don't want NK's nukes aimed at them and they don't want a strong united Korea that's allied with the U.S). China would almost certainly intervene to unilateral American military action against North Korea.

You're right, I don't think we are at WWIII but the risk of nuclear war is serious. Trump needs to know what he is doing, he can't be acting based on impulse or emotion.

Lol do you really think China would risk itself by going to war with the US just for the alliance of nation that produces nothing? China probably allied North Korea because the place is right next to china, and china wanna make sure if North Korea starts bombing places, they don't bomb china. I'm pretty sure if North Korea gets completely destroyed by the US, china would just pretend it never happened. They probably would be secretly happy that the annoying piece of bordering nation is gone

That last part is what scares me. He has twitter wars with celebrities and we expect him to act cautiously at a time of impending ACTUAL war?
