Putin calls it an act of aggression, tensions escalate (but not really). Trump smooths it out with Russia (again, not really). Trump wins peace prize for averting nuclear war, Putin is looked upon more favorably, and the obvious collusion between Trump and the Russian government is forgotten and we see Trump 2020-2024. I'd put money on this It's honestly a lot of game theory and fooling the general public. It's sad that this kind of scenario can stick, but if Trump did indeed collude with the Russians, then crazy conspiracies are possible.
