Harry Styles and Gaga - A New Pop?

Could Harry Styles' new single help Gaga? Not directly, of course, but there's something about this new wave of vocal based, Bowie-inspired, piano heavy ballads - as seen in Harry Styles' new single 'Sign of the Times' - that could really push Gaga into a new success in this style in her career.

Obviously a lot of us are talking about a third single right now, and whist I'd love either DIC or AYO, something tells me that the success of Million Reasons and of similar styled releases may persuade Ga instead, to release Joanne, perhaps.

The recent article by Billboard - http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/7744316/with-million-reasons-is-lady-gaga-bringing-back-the-vocalist-era - further made me think this. This new 'vocalist' era seems to be something that could be on the rise. Harry Styles' major promotion and huge mass of fans will indefinitely lead to a success for the song, which may lead pop in a new direction. I feel as if this direction could really help Gaga, as a pure vocalist, she's more known for her voice than the beats and sounds that layer behind it.

Not sure about anyone else but when I heard Styles' new song I was shocked because this isn't something that, now, really fits in US or U.K. radio. Yet both are going to support it because it's his debut (and an amazing song). So will this help Ga to have more vocalist songs becoming hits? We'll see, I guess.

(Just a thought)

When I read that review about going against the grain all I thought was PI + MR

I'd would be super refreshing if that happened, but at the moment 6 acts in the top 10 here in The Netherlands are EDM dj acts:toofunny: I don't really see it happening over here for now...

****. This is the first time ive listened to the song. The first minute alone makes that Bowie-esque review legitimate

Maybe Angel Down. I can never see Joanne as a radio hit because of the unconventional way she sings the verses.

I dunno but I wish the 'country' side of Joanne had been more like this song instead of having the country influence, because it's something I think she can do so well

Same, especially MR, it's a song that none of us would've guessed would be as big of a success as it's become

I think she's just finding her footing maybe? Joanne was like her resting out this new genre and maybe her next albums will focus more solely on this sort of vibe.

Perhaps, Angel Down would probably work too, but Joanne has such a good chorus that would fit nicely

How about Hey Girl? I'd rather it be Joanne or Sinner's Prayer if she were to release a ballad for 3rd single though

This. I felt like a young David Bowie was about to sing MR in the beginning of the song :emma:

Yeah quite possibly! I mean, I think whatever she'll do next will be completely different but I'd love more songs that have that 70s/Bowie grand sound. I think, like you said though, Joanne might have been a stepping stone
