While the organization that represents the agents, the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) has not spoken about the nomination, Darby spoke about how the line agents feel let down. His comments were made on the Texas radio show The Pursuit of Happiness. “I know that Trump has promised to get the National Border Patrol Council and agents a large voice in what happens on the border,” Darby said. “ Last Friday he picked Kevin McAleenan, he nominated him to be the Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, the parent agency of Border Patrol.” During the show, Darby spoke on how McAleenan is not only a holdover from the Obama administration, but a key player during the previous administration’s push for a less secure border. “Every single agent I have spoken with has been upset,” Breitbart Texas’ director said. “They tell me ‘We feel betrayed by the Trump Administration. RNC was out to get him, Libs were out to get him, MSM is out to get him but WE put Donald in office. There are a whole lot of things that Donald has taken a turn on. Yes we're getting jobs. Yes we are beginning to drain the Illegal Swamp. Yes we're going to build our Military, can't say I am jump up and down enthused by war talk against Nuclear armed N. Korea, or the Batshit crazy Iranians. No I am disappointed with Donald BUT Donald is NOT Hillary, so I will continue to support Trump but I will also continue when I think I need to, to fire a few posts across his bow." I mean here is someone like: "Trump is breaking all his promises, he is turning his back on all of us, but I he isn't Hillary so I'll support him." That's the attitude these people still have. People wonder why he still has some support - it's because those people are die hard right-wing. Trump might not have been the saviour who will drain the swamp, deport all immigrants, lock Hillary Clinton up etc. But he was the only candidate who would even say that he wants to do that. Why would they suddenly switch and support a Democrat of even a more moderate Republican? No Democrat or moderate Republican is going to give them what they want. Even if he isn't going to do it, Trump is still the only one in the field who says he will What Democrat/ Moderate Republican is going to endorse locking up Hillary Clinton/their political opponent? Is going to discuss the possibility of an unconstitutional muslim ban? Is going to endorse separating immigrant parents from their children? Is going to endorse an expensive wall that blocks out immigrants and say Mexico will pay for it? So if Trump doesn't deliver on those promises, it's frustrating and disappointing - but they know that no Democrat or Moderate Republican is going to deliver on those issues either. The logic of these Trump supporters is "Well at least Trump is the only one ballsy enough to say he believes in these things - he is going to be better and do more for me than the rest of them." Everything could go to complete sh*t and they are convinced it would be worse under Clinton or some establishment Democrat. Even more Republicans are convinced that, while they have always dislike Trump and would rather another Republican, Trump and a Republican government is still going to deliver more of what they want and be better for the country than any establishment Democrat. I think it's also why people can't go into 2020 expecting a push over. That's what everyone thought about 2016 - Trump had no chance then. There are a significant amount of people who are dissatisfied with Trump - the polls reflect that - but when it comes to the election there are a significant amount of people who will say "Trump didn't deliver on this promise, this promise, or that promise - but he is better than any other candidate out there."
