I get what they're going for but the video doesn't really work.

Clearly, they support peace, creativity and the power of the people but keeping it far away from any political alignment and having a Kardashian in it makes it just feel off. It's like they're trying to have a strong message but being extremely hesitant to say it.

Yup...  they are just using that idea of political participation, protesting ,and also "diversity", & celebrity endorsments cameos and a soundtrack to sell a product, they're not making a stance. Just riding the wave of the culture like capitalism will do. :interestinga:

I loved that commercial, actually. I honestly don't see anything controversial about it.

Looking at the comments though, the hate is mostly about how the star is Kendall Jenner, and that people think it's pretentious of Pepsi to make an ad like this essentially saying that "Pepsi will fix all the problems"

Honestly though, stop getting so butthurt about it. People will find anything to complain about. It's a nice commercial that not only promotes diversity, but is very relevant for today's times. So f*cking unncessary to hate it imo.

Hmm well here's my two cents   They're not taking any stance on any issue so to me idk what the  a message is. Protesters or blue lives matter... "Diversity" (carefully selected diverse representation doing various artistic things )? Or should the white skinny model be the star of the film ultimately?... They are so neutralt. theyare just taking advantage of the revived concern for politics to sell Pepsi. They don't make ads just to make ads. It's to sell. I couldnt make any deductions from this video other than that they promote peace? If that's what a celebrity sharing a can or Pepsi w a cop means, I guess.

Bette Davis

Out of all the people they could have picked, they pick someone who doesn't use their massive platform at all for anything positive. So over her and her trash family :madge:

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

Morphine Prince

I'm cringing so hard :rip:

But I don't see why some people seem to be so upset. It's stupid though. Let's just ignore it.

Absolutely nothing makes sense in the video, the scenes are just randomly put together, and then you have Kendall Jenner saving the world by being a model :neyde: I was just uncomfortable watching it

MTE, imean she is beautiful, specially with the blonde wig, but c'mon! im sure pepsi could pick a waaaaaaay better example for the ad, even Emma Watson, or someone with more, substance

I really hate how they keep trying to use bob Marleys nephew. Like he is not sounding like a good artist people are just using the Marley last name to give him some status. I could be wrong so ill see how his career starts to unravel so far he is lame and sucks. IMO

Why is this commercial creating controversy? Simple. Insulting the Kardashians and publicly feigning outrage over social injustices are both quick ways to get an ego boost and raise your perceived social standing. This commercial is an Outrage Opportunity Two-For-One Special.

Since the dawn of Advertising businesses have capitalized on social movements to sell their products. For example, cigarette companies capitalized on the Suffragette movement by re-branding cigarette's as "torches of freedom." But this Pepsi commercial isn't attempting to attach itself to a specific movement, which makes the outrage even more misplaced.

Pepsi made a racially and religiously diverse commercial that presented the current spirit of activism sweeping our country in a rosy light. But because they didn't show the literal reality and of police brutality... a pox on them.
