For those of you saying that Iggy needs to write more real stuff, stuff with substance - her label doesn't let her. She explained all this in an interview.

The whole video is amazing too, watch the whole thing, if you can. She makes so many good points. I honestly think white rappers are under more pressure from their labels to make simple rap songs. Everywhere I look, I see black rappers making really personal work and going down the contemporary/experimental/avant garde route now but white rappers just keep their style pop rap or just stick to the traditional rap format. It's like these labels think that the public only wants a white rapper who makes a specific kind of rap and most notably, fun rap. But they allow the black rappers so much more freedom for some unknown reason. I have no other explanation for why Iggy is told to simplify her work but black rappers are allowed to make really experimental stuff. Also, the reason why Iggy's album has been delayed for so long is because she can't get a hit single anymore. Yet, I see black rappers dropping complete albums with no single preceding it whatsoever and even if they do have a single, even if it flops, it doesn't stop their album being released. Basically, if you're a white rapper, you're ordered to be really basic and your album won't be released if you can't make hits. But if you're a black rapper, you can do whatever you want, release whatever you want. And they say black people are still oppressed in the rap game and that rap's being whitewashed? Puh-lease.

Igglo was never really popular, Fancy only did well because of the catchy hook and black widow... because of the hook :madge:
