Who is going to pay you for reading books and listening to music? Are you going to review, edit, teach, write? What will you do for a living? 

I know tons of people who are in business, engineering, sciences, who love their jobs and lead a very happy life. Many people would be miserable sitting around reading books and listening to music all day.

Public college in Lebanon is free, and they take the highest scorers... that ensures that the people who have what it takes but no money can still get education, but you'd have to be serious about it (which removes the argument of 'money only allows the serious ones to go to college'. Like no it allows rich people only.)

If the US took just the top scorers, it would hurt a large group of people who are already struggling. It would end up having the opposite affect of helping the most compromised in our country. They often don't have the advantages in K-12 that others have who can afford to go to better schools. Many that come from underprivileged areas have to catch up or are late bloomers. There are options that allow these types of students to go to college.

Why do people look so low upon teaching or editing (which is what I want to do)? Is business or engineering or whatever else so much better because of a few additional bucks? It's amazing how you just assumed I'm going to end up without a job based on virtually no information I provided other than I'm majoring in English.

I didn't say that teaching or editing was a job that wasn't valued, nor did I say that business or engineering is better. I didn't assume anything, other than you are disparaging engineers of business people because it isn't what you are interested in. Many people go into business and engineering because they are interested in having a career in that area.

I gave my thoughts on the topic of 'a degree in humanities is useless' with a personal example, and all you got from that is that 'no one will pay for my books' and that i'm 'disparaging' engineers simply because I prefer literature? Why am i even trying.

Your books? That's not what you said in your OP. If you had originally stated that you felt that a degree in the Humanities was every bit as important as a degree in business or the sciences, then that would have aligned with what you are saying now in your comments. 

You did say "I've yet to see one successful businessman/engineer/etc. lead a happy life." My comment was that many people enjoy their careers in these areas and lead a very happy life. What did you mean by that statement?

Dems. won't make the mistake twice, hopefullly.

Sanders lost the primary by 3 million votes so I don't think he's a good example. He did energize the base though and many young people are now more interested in the political process.

Well um...

I honestly cannot be my true self living with my parents and I need a job and money to move out.

If I decide to go back to college I would have to learn how to balance a job and college simultaneously, which is something I don't think I could do well.

The thing is, in order to do the things that make you happy, you still have go through some miserable sh!t.

Want your dream career? Gotta go to college. Then gotta actually manage to get a job.

Want to cosplay? gotta have money for buying it.

The world revolves around money. You gotta pay for sh!t, there's no getting around it.

People can have their dream careers, of course, but you still need food water and shelter.

He didn't actually lose the primary by that much. California reports have shown over 2m Primary votes were left uncounted and the DNC paid media to not report that he truly won California. Him winning California would have had the social impact to help him in following states

It maybe been an open convention but it's still doubtful he could've pulled ahead in delegates or the popular vote.

unfortunately, he just wasn't big enough with minorities to win.
